I don't see any statistics indicating that christians are healthier. In fact generally countries with high christian populations such as those in africa and south america tend to have lower life expectancies than those with large populations of non-believers such as Japan and Northern Europe.

The social group with the highest percentage of Christians in the US are blacks and Hispanics who also have low incomes and lower life expectancies.
And that statistic doesn't mean too much anyway. For Example The Life Expectancy of Jews in Nazi Germany was very very low. It could just be Non-Christians are under more stress because of discrimination.

By the way I have never smoked or drank ahcohol and am an atheist. When you are an atheist you realize you only have one life and one body. Unlike Christians who are constantly getting drunk and committing crimes because they believe Jesus will forgive them.

Also note that the bible belt states in the US almost without exception have lower life expectancies that the more atheist Northern states. The one exception is Utah which has a high life expectancy and also a high religious population. But then again Utah also leads the Nation in pornography downloads per capita, so maybe they are not quite so religious as they pretend to be.

Actually if you look at other religions you will find that Buddists have a lifestyle that is by far better then the Christian one. However, it is not a question of why Christians have a healthier life but way are you so arrogant to other people having a healthy life regardless of religious outlook? Yet again another claim that is falsified by the Christain to make them seem better than everone else!

Ahhhh! I've answered this question a bunch of times... Let me enlighten you...

Most Christians lead "better and healthier" lives because they avoid the "sinful/harmful" things created by society...

Christians believe in avoiding the use of drugs, alcohol, tobacco, certain medications, certain medical treatments, even enlistment in the Army. This is not true for all Christians but for most conservative/"true" Christians it is true.

But here is the best part...
Religion in the world of Psychiatry has never been a proven cure for most mental illnesses, but it has always been seen as beneficial. Religion allows the person to feel loved, accepted, safe, and above all happy. If the person feels that he/she can hold true to the teachings of the religion then he/she will be less susceptible to harm both physical and mental....

Almost 90% of America claims to be Christian. Over half of America is on or should be on Anti-depressants of some kind.

Where do you get your information? I got mine from the Census and American Medical Association.

You would think the murder rate would be lower with your idealism. As well as lower Adultery, Rape, Abortion rates. I'm not sure what world you're living in, but this is reality.

You're right. There was a big article in the May addition of "Forbes" magazine. An extensive poll was taken and Christians made more money, (up to 50% more) and lived longer, (up to 15 years more) Than any other religion. Atheist where on the bottom of the list. They made the least money, and shortest life spans.

It's been proven that people who believe in something have a more positive outlook on life, and are therefore healthier in general.

But it can be belief in yourself, or family, or spirituality without religion, or christianity, or any religion besides christianity, etc.

The study is a little biased, if you just look at half of it.

Utah is the healthy state of the nation. It is full of mormons. They do not drink or smoke and they are very active.

But even the non-religious can live that way.

Tell that to the thousands of starving African Christians.

last I checked, though, Christians usually die of stuff, too.
