For a sweet red wine try Lambrusco, you actually serve this one slightly chilled

Or Bardolino or Valpolicella (try Bolla brand) very smooth and nice (about $8.00 - $10.00)

Les Bourgeois vineyards near Rocheport, MO has a lovely Riverboat Red that is inexpensive and tasty. A bottle runs just under $5. We like several of the wines made there.

Lambrusco is the best out there if you like a sweet, light red wine that compliments pasta, seafood, and beef. This every day wine can be enjoyed any time but most of all it is a wine you should enjoy all of the time.

Red Bicyclette

It's from France, but most larger liquor stores have it and it usually runs for $10 or less. The Chardonnay by Red Bicyclette is excellent too.
