If you are set on going into the military, the AF is one of the best ones. There are numerous jobs in the AF that have direct civilian counterparts, and many others that the training is extremely beneficial. You will tend to have the best facilities of the 5 branches as well.

I was in the Air Force 21 years and of all the services it's the easiest. Army is the dirty work. Marines is the most dangerous work and hardest. Navy is the "ummmmm" work.
But right now, I don't think it's a great time to join, unless you know what you're getting into. I got out because of the mismanagement of the Bush administration. Many things are being shoved under the covers just to get things done. If I were you, go to a 2 year college or something and get an education. After things around the world either get better or worse, you'll be able to redecide your options. Or just sign up for OTS and see where that goes.

I spent 4 years, 4 months, 19 days in the air force. It is the closest thing you can get to civilian life when it comes to military service.
However, we ARE in a wartime situation. It is not a 9 to 5. There is a very high likelihood that you will be shot at. Even if you don't go to a "hot spot". There are people all over the world that do not agree with U.S. foreign policy. By joining the military you become a symbol of that foreign policy. You may be shot at, or bombed in "low risk" Europe.
Think about this. You need to know the whole story.

I spent 5 great years in the Air Force as a Security Policeman. In most every veterans eyes the Air Force is the easyest of all the branches of the military. I agree basic training is real easy if you are in some sort of shape. Technical school after is where your brains are need as the Air Force is pretty picky about who they accept.
the only physically demanding jobs in the Air Force are, Security Forces and Pararescue, and they are the most elite career fields in the Air Force for non-pilot but they also are the only AF jobs that are anywhere close to ground combat related.
If you are smart (litrally) aim high, aim Air Force.

I've been in the Air Force for 22 years. There is alot about it that is great. There are benefits. But, it's still the military, so if you're expecting 5 star hotels and olympic sized pools, you're out of luck. I'll retire in 2010 with 26 years, so, I think I can say, it's worth it.

I spent 21 years in the Navy.
I have worked pretty close with Air Force personnel. From what I heard the promotions can be a little slow. But from what i heard people like it better than most services.
Navy is great (not just cuz i was in it), But if you dont like being away from family, on a ship or overseas dont join the Navy.
thats one thing I heard Air Force liked was being home more.
Its a great exerience to be in the military. (I think). Great benefits I have half my pay and medical is alot cheaper than alot of civilians pay
Good Luck

The Air Force is great to join if u r intersted in flying or learn about planes, aircraft and all the other stuff having to do with planes and so on. The frist few weeks of training is pretty rough but u get use to it after a while it becomes nothing to you, you can do it like a pro.

Generally speaking, the Air Force has the shortest boot camp and the easiest. They are also considered the 'smart' branch of the Armed Forces. Meaning that some people that take the ASVAB test and are able to select certain fields of study in the other branches, might not get certain fields in the Air Force.

My niece is in right now. She is just a itty bitty lil gal. She is serving in Germany. Two of the my sisters and I also served in the Air Force. One retired a SrMsgt. You'll be fine. Just test well on ASVAB, get a good job, have a good attitude. Overseas assignments are much more fun. Good luck.

I am an army vet, but I can tell you that the Air Force is the easiest service to belong to. They get the best food and they don't get seasick or
have to crawl around in mud- exception the
Elite Special Operations guys. (like the army's
special forces)
