Oh my gosh dobermans are fantastic to train. They are one of the most intelligent breeds. They are commonly used in police training and things like that. They can be a little nutty in some cases, for example ours likes to watch out the window for something to bark at when he gets bored. But really it shows his intellegence, he knows the difference between his toys and loves to play. Dobies make great pets!

They are both very spirited, sharp working dogs if they come from GOOD bloodlines, GOOD breeder who socialize and raise the puppies well. I wouldn't buy a dog that comes from a kennel; only raised in the home.

With dubious bloodlines, borderline caretaking, Dobes and GSDs can be spooky; GSDs actually known for their fearbiting which is more dangerous than actual aggression.

Dobes make great obedience dogs, learn quickly, very smart; as long as you don't break their spirit. They perform best when they have calm confidence; not frantically trying to avoid being punished.

Check with your home owners policy. These are two of the breeds that many policies exclude coverage on.

Even though my Dobe was highly trained, high socialized, a conformation dog AND competition obedience dog, she would still chase down and bite running, screaming children. Both of these working breeds have high prey drive and need VERY GOOD training. Good luck!

Hello,
Doberman's are highly intelligent and no harder to train than other medium breed dogs.
Their lean mean looks earn them a reputation that is seldom deserved.
They are highly energized and require a lot of exercise. As far as how they compare to German Shepards, I have never owned a Shepard, so I can't make a comparison based on personal experience. Both dogs are extremely smart and both perform well in whatever they do, especially agility.

Doberman Pincher's are easy to train. You just have to be gentle about it and try not to teach them aggression. I cannot compare them to the temperament of a German Shepherd though, sorry! All dogs are different though, even within the breed. I thin the most important thing to remember is the level of aggression you train them with. You could really ruin your dog if you are not aware of this. I hope you do well. Good luck Gorgeous!!

Dobermans are very easy to train. They are extremely smart and love to learn and excel. One word of caution though. When they are still very young, don't allow them to jump too much or too high. You can ask a experienced trainer about this, but I wouldn't start practicing jumping too early on. Wait until they're grown a bit and are less wobbly.

I have a Min-pin....which is totally different, but she is a NIGHTMARE!!!! Great companion type of dog, but the only thing she knows to do id stop when we bring her in from outside to let us take her leash off. Other than that she potties inside, chews up our carpet, doesn't listen, walks on table, goes INSANE if put her in a crate. But i still love her

They are very easy to train, both breeds (dobies and sheps) are VERY inteligent dogs. But you need to be very diligent in training with either dog, because if they aren't stimulated they will become destructive. Both can also be territorial.

Yes they can be very tought to train.
They are far harder to train than the GSD.
I have owned Dobes for 17 years and I train dogs.
Dobes are great dogs but you have to spend a lot of time training with them and find out what motivates them to learn and do things.
GSD are much more willing to please the owner and will do things for the owner much easier than a Dobe will.
Dobes can be very hard headed and willful dogs who prefer to do as they please rather than what the owner wants.

No, not at all. They do tend to be a little high strung. German Shepard's are more down to earth.

Dobermans are very intelligent dogs and very trainable. They are willing to please. Like any breed/mix of dog it takes consistant training, proper socialization and training knowledge to train them.
