my husband is there and told me to get a cell phone plan and mail him one and i do not know which one will work the best with him there and me here

From what I remember all the big companies work fine in the garrison area (the area where their are buildings, this is also the area he is allowed to use cell phones if he is a trainee)

I had sprint at the time and had good coverage, but I hate them now.

Go with whatever national company you like they all have fairly good signal.

Well, the short answer is to tell him to go to ask everyone else what they're using.

It only matters how good his coverage is on his end...if you've got good coverage with your phone and he's got good coverage with his, you should be able to talk just fine.

When I was in the Army had deals with cell providers at various posts (you can find them at the PX) and you could pretty much count on their coverage. But just to be sure, go to the various cell provider websites and check out their coverage maps.
