however whenever a joke is made about Hispanics or Mexicans, there is all these thumbs up signs and you guys all laugh and whatnot. But when there is a joke about white people...everyone says it is racist and gets all offensive...wtf?


I'm not saying all you are racist, but c'mon, for those who do laugh and support those "jokes", there has to be some prejudice behind it.

Racism is so ingrained in our society that most people don't recognize it. It is not limited to white people altho it comes from them most of the time. Racism can only stop when we recognize it within ourselves and take the steps to deal with it. I don't tolerate racist/ethnic or sexist jokes at all and make a point of letting the person know that. They are NOT funny and only promote ignorance and intolerance. The same is true for those with disabilities. Sometimes, I wish all could experience racism first hand. They wouldn't find it so funny.

This is a racist world, especially the USA. When you look at the news and they have people of authority commenting they're all white. Those are also the ones that cause the problems; that's why they know so much about them.

What's funny is that they're all forieners; they all need passports to get to their country and their country doesn't use US currency. For the most part the ones in charge of the US is the French and the Brittians; those two actually rule the world.

The minorities do need to finish taking this country over to correct it and run it well.

Here's a good one. They have inplants for every thing; A white woman went to have sex with her white husband and he had a black one.

How do you know that the people who claim not to be racist are the ones giving the thumbs up. You can't say only whites gripe and complain because almost everything under immigration on here is griping about how the US doesn't allow illegal immigration and how all whites are racist. if you can honestly say that you have never cracked a joke about anyone then you are truly a gem. jokes are jokes. for anyone to see it as anything else is the laughable part. why do people have to be offended. Seriously, though, I think people just get steamed with the double standard in society and Yahoo Answers allows them enough anonymity (sp?) to express their feelings about it.

Today's culture allows minorities to make any comment they like about the whites yet when a white makes a comment about minorities it is criticized mercilessly.

Here's a prime example of double standards, using the joke motif.

Take a black comic, like Chris Rock or Eddie Griffin. 2/3 of their stand-up, if not more, is blasting white people and their culture.

The same is true of Hispanic comics blasting whites, female comics blasting men, gay comics blasting straights,liberal comics blasting conservatives.

Take a white male comic like George Carlin, Jerry Seinfeld, Bill Engvall, etc.etc. and they spend very little if any time on race or gender.

We laugh at the racist jokes on Yahoo because they're funny, and because we would be ostracized if we laughed at them in public.

I think it's a little reactionary. We've spent so much time hearing about White Guilt and that Whites can't be on the recieving end of racism because they aren't a Minority; I think it's just alot of resentment lashing out. I wouldn't condone it or give it a thumbs up. We all have to live above the hate.

I AM mexican, and I love mexican jokes! Why get touchy about race, there is a HUGE line between jokes (no matter how crass they may be) and true resentment and hatred. If you can see people for what they are (Answer: PEOPLE) then color is really a non-issue. So get over it, your race is your race, learn to love it and laugh at it. That's the same thing you should be able to do with any aspect of yourself: love it, but be able to laugh at it.

you need to get over it, i hear white , black , Mexican, Asian, you name it jokes, if it is funny i laugh. not prejudice, just funny. hell i am white and tell white jokes all the time. most are of myself that i make up. i have Hispanic children, and relatives that are black, most of the jokes come from them. people just need to grow up, and have fun in life when you can, because there are enough problems around, no need to try and make more.
