Just expand your conversation with him a little each time you see him...also, find out when he eats lunch and "coincidentally" have lunch at the same time.

OK I am a construction worker. First just because you don't see a ring doesn't mean he is not married. If you like him and want to get to know him find out where they take there coffee breaks. Try to be there at the same time and sit near or at the same table. OR YOU COULD just be up front and ask him to go for a cup coffee after work. You have to risk being rejected to meet people.
GOOD LUCK

Keep it simple. Ask him out for a cup of coffe or something. Stay casual at first so that he knows that you are not rushing him into anything. During the cup of coffee you can make sure he doesnt have a woman, find out if you guys live close together, things you have in common, that kind of stuff. It sounds too good to be true to just let him walk away when the job is done!

Just keep being friendly and talking to him, maybe find something you have in common so you can start up more of a conversation than just saying hi. When you're ready and feel comfortable, maybe on a Friday, you could say something like, "Hey, some friends and I were going to go out to dinner/movie/concert/coffee/etc. this weekend, would you like to come?" By hanging out with him in a group, away from work, hopefully you'll get even more comfortable with him and maybe you'll want to start dating.
Good luck!

just think of him as one of the regular people you say hi to and gradually start asking him questions about his work and continue on from there. you can't lose anything, in the end at least you cant say you never tried. you need to do it before it's too late ask him after you gradually talk for like a couple of days if he would like to have lunch with you. the hospital does have a lobby to eat at!

I always like the direct approach- except when dealing with my own problems of course. Watch what he drinks on his coffee break, and how he takes it if he drinks coffee, then show up with his chosen drink and start having breaks together. that way it is a short, non threatening amount of time but you can get quite a bit of information during 15 minutes. Good luck!

Just as you are walking past him, comment on the weather - sounds corny but it always works. If he is wanting to delve into further verbal communication with you, he will say 'Yeah, its too good to be at work' and then you say - 'what would you rather be doing'? He might say: 'i like to fish, or swim, then take it from there. Tell him that swimming is your favorite past time or ask him to teach you to fish properly as you've always wanted to learn, but too scared to put that poor worm through the hook!
The conversation is endless if you can create scenarios.
Have fun

Ask him to join you at the cafeteria for a drink. Both will still be in the environment and should be relaxed. This way you are still in the "being friendly" stage. If it works out you will soon be going out on your own.

Ask him if he would like to get a coffee one day. The worst he can say is no. NOT becuase he doesn't like you but maybe becuase he is already taken. Just play it cool and don't worry...if he doesn't have a girlfriend, you can be guaranteed he will join you for some Joe.

1st things 1st, make sure he isn't wearing a wedding band. Start by trying to start a conversation with him. If he is interested, after a while, he should start to loosen up and start the whole flirting thing.
