What is the strangest fact about food that you have heard?

Things like....
-almonds contain cyanide
-hotdogs contain earthworms (listed as sodium earthabates)
-cheese is started with the same family bacteria as the stuff that makes your feet smell
-Wendy's chili is made from "expired" hamburgers


Strangely enough, none of these things turn me off of eating those foods! What about you? :)

Not sure how strange it is but sausage casings are made from pig intestines. I still have no problem eating 'em.

Figs are previously eaten. My high school biology teacher told my class that there was a certain bug that lays its eggs inside of figs and another bug that eats the eggs in the fig. So if you think about it, the figs you eat have already been eaten. Who here wants a Fig Newton now? LOL
