Some breeds of dogs are better for certain people than others...if you have a lot of room and plenty of time to give a dog the exercise it needs then you could go for a larger dog like a golden retriever or if you dont have a lot of space and you prefer more of a lap dog then maybe something like a pomeranian would be better for you....

A tough question to answer without more information. We have alergies and did not want a big dog, nor did we want a small dog. We found a Portuguese Water Dog one year ago and he has been marvelous - non shedding, loves children, the water, playing and running. He's medium sized (smaller than a lab and biggger than a spaniel). We'd have no hesitation recommending this breed to any family who likes to be active.

The type of dog you should get greatly depends on your personality and life style. Call your local Humane Society, they are great at setting people up with the perfect dog. Make sure you are ready for the physical, mental, and financial responisibility getting a dog involves. Also you can visit akc.org to read up on dog breeds. Don't Shop ...Adopt!

I'm partial to Labs. Great family dog with a lot of energy and a great personality. Whatever you get, go through a good (very good) breeder. Visit if you can and see how they take care of their dogs and how the older ones behave. Read Marley and Me as a primer.

Are you someone who likes sports or someone who likes to stay home allot? It depends on your energy level and lifestyle. I have two dogs, one big and one small but both have dreadlocks. They are wonderful. If you are sportive, you may want to get something like a Husky dog or retriever. If you don't like to move much but don't want a little lunch dog (toy poodle) a mastiff, Komondor or Great Peranses are great dogs to get. Hope this helps.

It depends on whether you want a big dog or a small dog. I prefer small dogs because when they poop their turds aren't very big, more like a tootsie roll. Big dogs have big turds. I have a Pomeranian and she's the sweetest dog in the world.

Depends on what you like. Different breeds have different personalities as well as life expectancies. There are Lap dogs, hunting dogs, hyper dogs...

If you live someplace where there is not a lot of room, Then I would suggest getting a smaller breed of dog.
It is not fair to have a big dog cooped up where he/she can't run and play.
