Make it seem like they are a part of the decision to stay or go.

It's hard on kids but sometimes there is nothing you can do about it. Tell them sooner than later. Don't spring it on them at the last minute. Give them time to let it soak in.
You will get some protest but make it positive. Find out things that are cool about the area you are moving and share it with them. This will make them more eager for a new adventure.

Just explain to them what's going on, why you have to move. Help them understand that though you are moving they can still write letters to their old friends, and remind them how easily they made friends in this state, and it will be easy to make friends in the new state. Try to make it fun for them to. Packing and redecorating their new room can give them something to look forward too. Good luck and God bless ya'll.

When I was a child I had to move several times because of my father's job, I think there's no way to make this easier, all you can do is to explain them it's something you just HAVE TO do, I'm sorry, I know that you expected another kind of answer, but my personal experience tells me that, even thought moving is something hard, it just can make you stronger.

Think about it hard. My parents moved me from ND to CA. I have regret for my parents for moving me so far from everyone that I knew. It is harder on the kids than the parents know. I am 26 now and I have expressed to my parents that I wish they never moved me away from the family that I have back there. Now I don't see them anymore.

You sit them down and explain in your calmest voice that you all have to move because________.(you fill that in) Let them know that you understand they are upset and will miss thier friends but this is what has to happen. Just explain to where they will understand. If they get upset then just do what you have to. Eventually they will get over it and try to make the best out of it like you are. Good luck

WHY DO YOU KEEP MOVING? don't you think these kids deserve a stable life and not one of moving around all the time? if this it due to changing jobs or for the military, please reconsider this decision for the kids!!!
