Depending on the genre (fiction, non-fiction, auto-bio, true crime, sci-fi, etc....). Generalize what book you'd like to write. From there, logically map/flowchart out what steps you feel best to accomplish to meeting that goal.....then go forward with such efforts.

You can be your best and toughest editor: Look at each sentence or paragraph....and sculpt it to be shorter--but more to the core exact point; one the reader can really understand. Never forget: 90 % of all book readers can be easily distracted--or focus / aim on gripping their attentions and work on their imaginations.

Pour into your research and study it well: write as if you truly know and have experienced what your characters are supposed to be....and have them to appear to be real people.

Give plenty of thought to your writing project....but don't overtap your mind; allot moderation into relaxation too. A good book project normally takes months to complete....and the really really hot ones may take a year or two.....or more.

I hope these tips help....they do for me. And NEVER let the manuscript rejections put you down and out: maintain strong defiant perseverance.

There is a book called "Write to the point"

It has been out for some time but you may be able to find it.

It gives pointers on how to say what you want in the least amount of words. You can see I never finished it.
