Our local teacher supply store doesn't even offer discounts to teachers, but you can ask yours. Teachers get a break on the tax IF the item(s) will be reimbursed by the school district/private school BECAUSE the school district/private school is tax-exempt, but this is not a discount.
And to the grim reapor-ted - homeschoolers do NOT get to write anything homeschool-related off on their federal income tax return. That only applies to public school teachers.

some stores do offer teacher discounts. you are a teacher. it really depends on your state. In NC we have to register with the state with an intent to open a school. they mail you a card in the mail that we can use as sort of id. or you could make your own id. barns and noble has discounts, wal-mart (sometimes), office max has a max perks program for teachers. look online for places that do discounts.

Why don't you try online homeschooling? It makes it much more fun for your children and easier for you! All the supplies come to you, too! ;)
Check out these programs. They're K-12.
Imagine Academy, The Jubilee Academy, The Grace Academy, and The MorningStar Academy are all great programs. Imagine offers individual courses, Jubilee offers full online homeschooling curriculum, Grace offers full teacher-supported online homeschooling curriculum, and MorningStar is an online private school.

Most will, as will Barnes and Noble, Borders, etc. What they require will vary. In our area a copy of you letter of intent, or a copy of a homeschool group membership card will suffice.

you don't get any discounts for home schooling. you can buy stuff and then write it off on your tax returns but otherwise you're just another customer really.
