Because "that moment" is what makes our Salvation possible.

The cross, alone, cannot lead to anyone's Salvation. It was the one nailed to one cross in particular that can Save.

Remember, Jesus Christ said there is no greater love than when one gives his life for another. Doesn't the crucifix portray Jesus doing just that?

The crucifix is not a morbid fixation on blood, gore, and suffering. Even though the crucifix does portray Jesus at His most agonizing moment - do not forget Jesus submitted Himself to that on account of His love for us.

That is why Catholics, among others, are not afraid or ashamed to display a crucifix in a house of worship or our homes.

A crucifix summarizes the entire Gospel story and proclaims the good new without words.

With love in Christ.

Catholics have a crucifix ( a cross with jesus on it) to remind us of teh ultimate act of love that anyone can do for another. It also challenges me to love others with no boundaries, even if it means that i may have to die. I look at teh figure of Jesus on the crucifix and ask myself if i am loving others as much as Jesus loved me.

It is very sad and disturbing that some people would find the figure of Jesus on teh cross disgusting. Do they think that Jesus dying for us is disgusting?

Catholics do not deny the resurrection. It is the greatest and holiest day of the entire year. We do not deny Jesus' death for us.

I think you are generalizing a bit there as not ALL Christians have the crucifix as a holy symbol. In fact it was a pagan symbol that made the cross in the first place. It stands for the pagan god Tamuz. Anyone knows the reason for the Catholics use of the symbol as they have lots of idols and worship them as the commandment says not to do and many churches follow its example of the symbolic cross to mark their churches but not all do that.

The crucifix is only for Catholic. It is disgusting to Protestants because the crucifix denies the resurrection. The cross WITHOUT Christ hanging on it is the official symbol of Protestantism.

Lets see.

He died there for your sins.

He was a perfect sacrifice which was required for your sins.

He went to the cross willingly for your sins.

He was God come to earth as man and crucified for your sake.

We love him for what he did for us.

Without that cross mankind could not know God.

Without that cross we would all be separated from God.

It reminds us of Jesus's greatest sacrifice for us.

At least we don't walk around with wine bottles around our necks (to signify when he turn water into wine). LOL

It shows the immeasurable love he has for us, it shows how far He would go to save us, and it shows that He is the victor, the cross is empty and He lives.
