Just give him a big hug and kiss and tell him you will see him later. Don't coddle him too much or the crying will go on. He will get used to the routine of being at school and away from mom. It's easier said than done, but if you want him to stop crying you have to assert that he has to go to school and that you will see him later on.

Hmmmmm,
He may be having either adjustment issues or there may be something bigger going on like being bullied or just not fitting in.
If he has been going to school a while and it were enjoyable for him then he shouldn't cry unless there is something or someone there for him to be afraid of.
Talk with his teachers and find out if he is having any issues you are not aware of.
How old is he and how long has he been going to school?

Has he been to daycare before? He might not be used to being around so many people at one time. It can be scary for little ones that arent used to it. He will get used to it thoug. Be strong and make sure he knows how much fun school is.

standard and not uncommon separation anxiety. it will take your son about 2-4 weeks to get over it. once he feels comfortable at school all will be fine. if it persists beyond that, you might want to check the school and see if something/someone there is causing him some distress....

When i was very young my mother used to drop me off at her parents/my grandparents house and I would start to hit her because I was mad she was leaving. Eventually it stopped, obviously. Its just something kids get over in time. Its not something you should feel guilty about. :-)

My son did that at first, too. It's seperation anxiety. Sign him up for tee-ball or baseball or something. It helps.
