My toddler was puking a lot a week ago. it was the flu, me and my in-laws got it too. My toddler and i are alone seeing my husband's family in Bulgaria and the doctors prescribe medicines i've never heard of. no one asks me if it's okay to give it to her...i don't understand the language. her illness has progressed, she has a fever of 101.4, doctor came again, said she no longer has the flu, now she has "angina". they want to put her on antibiotics and other things. What can i do for my baby? homeopathically speaking?

Ok, ok! excuse me for saying "second world country", i didn't realize that that is not politically correct. And to Natalia, thanx for your message, i was very distraught and hated seeing my baby have her nose plugged while they forced large amounts of medicine down her, but your message brought sense back in my head. so i told my in-laws to give her the meds while i left.
she is on antibiotics now.

You are the one who is hurting your baby. Doctors read same thing every where. If your baby needs antibiotics he needs it. get this thinking of first world and second world out of your mind, then you can help your kid. Just tell you something honest, east uropean have one of the best doctors. don't hurm your baby. as far as medicine you have never heard of, don't be stupid, they are same medicine but different names in different country.

until you get the antibiotics, get some luckwarm water (mostley to the cool side) and wash your baby's feet and hands and face to bring the fever down.

act now. trust that doctor, help your baby. if some thing happens to him you are responsible not them.

I am still worried about your baby, I hope she is better. just wanted to tell you that if they say "angina" it is a kind of cold or flu.
one thing to remember: if she has fever it means she has infection and it can be treated by antibiotics. probebly her throat is infected, if she touchers her ear it means it is going towared her ear. it is very simple, please give the medication, doctors are here to make us feel better not to kill us. specially your case is a very simple one.

I am happy to hear that, I hope she feels better by now. Just 2 things: first antibiotics takes 24-48 hours to show the results
second: one of the side effects of antibiotics is diarrhoea. Dont be affraid it is normal. just give her lots of fluids and make sure you feed her well.

Enjoy your tripe.

second world country? Omg you people never stop amazing me! a first world citizen would probbly check up on the medicine on ithe internet if nothing else because they are all in latin terms ! oh i guess second world countries dont have phone either and my dear angina is very common after tummy flu and it involves high fever and vomiting ! to all others that have mentioned doctors killing this poor toddler ( sad really) ! and homeopathically speaking you cant do anything! There are i am certain private clinics with english speaking personell go teher and ask for a bacteriogram from her/his throat to see what bacteria has caused angina because not all antibiotics can help ! Best of luck to both of you and poor husband of yours since you have such respect for him and his origins !
P.s I am not bulgarian so this is nothing personal

Natalia is right about easter european doctors and the pils are all the same thats why i said just check the latin name of the componenet to reassure your doubts.
as far as angina goes its a inflamation of tonsiles known as tonislilites and bacteria such as streptoccocus most commonly attack the throat making whitesih blisters and since its a toddler we are talking about it can be spread to ears as well ! and give your kid fluids streptoccocus cant go down the tummy like that ! when i was i kid i had comon anginas and only antibiotivcs help.
i am sorry if i was rough on you a day ago but you really need to relax.
Usa hospitals are full of east europian specialists not doctors.
Thir med schools are pretty hard to go through !

hope things are better now!

best of luck to you

call the embassy for english speaking doctors. They usually have a list of them... you should be able to get help thru them.
But I don't think the Bugarien doctor would prescribe her somethng harmful! Angina is strap! I am German and that's the same word for strap! If you can't get help soon thru the embassy, just trust the native doctors!

Get her away from those doctors before they kill her. Trade in your plane tickets and just leave. Call your own doctor. Take her to the Embassy and have someone translate!
