Is okay for the principal at school to spank my 17 year old sister?

This is very strange to me, I want to ask a few things,

Okay I am 38 yrs-old when I was in "Grade school" Our teachers would paddle the students sometimes if the child had done something that was wrong, and in saying that the parents were aware of this and it was fine with them,(the parents that is)
By the time High School came around that was not allowed any longer period, Now I am from Chicago IL, I am not aware of where you and your 17 yr-old sister are from but, I think you may need to go up there and find out why, your "17 yr-old" was spanked and not only that what kind of principal you are dealing with, what I mean is find out the back ground of this person, and to me personally what sex is the principal?
I would have a problem with anyone "Spanking" my 17 yr-old Teen the reason why I say that is because I wouldn't spank no one at that age, they are to be punished, they are too old for spanking, I say that because what does it do for them? It don't work to spank a person at that age................
That's coming from a mother of a 20 yr-old a 11 yr-old & a 9 yr-old.

I think 17 is too old to get spankings from anyone. If she haven't learned her listen by now than she should have to learn it on her own. What high school in America still spank kids, my kids are in elementary school and their school don't even spank. I would like to know how is a person going to physically spank a 17 year old? What if the girl turns around and hit the principal back? Will she be charged with assault?

NO! she's 17 for gosh sakes almost an adult. Spankings should stop somewhere around 11 and other punishments should take over. That's disgusting and maybe a little sexual if a principal is spanking a 17year old girl. Someone should put a stop to this immediately.

i dont know where you live or where this happen but its not legal that a principal in a school to spank hit kick grab any child even if a parent gives them the right to...

I don't believe it's legal. If it is, you live in some backward community. It's a very demeaning act, much more so at 17. Do you have parents, they should be in on this. If you don't, or they don't care, this is a tough situation for both you and your sister to be in. This seems like a problem for Child Protective Services to investigate. Good luck.

Daresay your sister probably deserved it. Either that or the principal is a pervert? Maybe go an a "Principal Pervet" campaign this year, all the school body can get in on it.

It's legal and probably is within the local school board's policy, but by age 17, paddling just pisses them off. I see no deterrent or redeeming quality to paddling beyond age 13.

If your kid isn't on a good path by then, it's too late to spank - you're done.

If I was your sister I'd slap that principal. No one spanks me without getting a few bruises.

I do not think its okay at all! I mean, I don't even believe is hitting small children....and since she is 17 this may actually constitute as sexual harrassment. I would talk to the school and have her do detention or something...I can't believe its 2006 and this stuff is still happening! Is this a private school or something?

I don't know what state you live in, but in my state, corporal punishment is ILLEGAL!!! The principal at your school has absolutely NO right to lay a hand on your sister!!! In my state, he would be arrested for assaulting a minor. Discipline is your Mom and Dad's department!
