I really believe almost every woman is socialized to be nice, whereas men try not to be rude. Women tend to want to be polite and less political, even if this means not necesarrily telling the truth ( little white lies) whereas men tend to be more straight forward and political.
I deal with women like that alot, I guess the biggest lie I ever got was when I asked my roomate if I was getting fat and she said she never realized. I moved from a size 10-16 . the worse lie I ever told to another woman was at the hair salon, when a lady was almost bald and the hair dressed spent and hour on her head and it loolked like she had a full head of hair, she asked me about the baldness and I said I decided I never noticed, even when I was across from her and staring right at her. I just didnt feel okay talking about he baldness of another woman, even when she was happy to talk about it. I felt it was a feelings issue.
but yeah, we tend to be people pleasers and "care" about feelings way more than we should.

I don't know about all women but I do it because I avoid confrontation. It is a bad habit though because then people tend to walk all over you.

there are two probable reason for that:
1. they are wrong and are accepting the mistake they had done by apologizing to you
2. they are not wrong and by apologizing they try to make you realize that the one who is wrong is YOU!
