This person was very special to me but it felt as though they didn't feel that way towards me. But i still love them and want to be with them but they aren't healthy for me. How do i quit this person, but still remain their friend?

Admit to yourself all the reasons they SHOULDN'T be with you, despite whether you have feelings for them or not. Be grateful they came into your life and that you were given the opportunity to have those feelings at all for another person......if he appreciates the friendship you two have, and you are comfortable being JUST his friend....(ie: Seeing him with someone else somewhere, etc, etc, without getting upset)........then yes, just look at the facts and be appreciative. If you still can't shake those feelings and see the inner truth of the reasoning behind your relationship, then sorry, probably wouldn't work out as friends.

if this person was not "healthy" for you, than why would you want him in your life? What kind of friend can they be? You should think about some counseling regarding your "codependency." It concerns me that you are hanging on to something that you admit wasn't healthy. Move on. Get busy w/life, learn something new, volunteer, take a class---you might actually meet someone you have something in common with and is good for you! A bad lover can not be a good friend! you just want to maintain an attachment--that's why you are fishing for any sort of relationship!
