Step 1: Know the enemy. What are their objectives? This is not the same as sympathzing or condoning, it's just smart..

Don't let down our vigilance, but at the same time bring the political branches to the negotiation tables to find out what "they" really want, ASIDE from causing terror. Isolate the extremist elements from moderate Islamists, and get some dialogue going. Give Islamic fundamentalists a forum for peaceful exchange of ideas and moderated debate.
While this is going on, we should increase our troop strengths, this time with the help of NATO and other nations, get the Russians involved, and annihilate offending parties' population base, starting with the Shia militias of Moqtada al Sadr and the Taliban. We have to stop playing with them and employ some weapons of mass destruction. It took Hiroshima and Nagasaki to get Japan to surrender. It's time we got creative with Taliban, Al-Qaeda, the Shi'ite and Baathist militias, and the Iranian & Syrian ruling parties. War is an ugly thing, not a tidy chess game.

As long as there are terrorist sympathizers, there will be terrorists.
Only when the terrorists are completely convinced that the war against them is being fought with resolve and conviction will they lose their incentive to inflict murder and mayhem on innocent men, women and children.
That is not happening and the rhetoric only serves to embolden and encourage them. If they can't see even a glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel, they will seek other means of addressing their concerns and grievances.
I wish the far left pacifists in this country would stop waving torches for them to see at the end of the tunnel.

THERE WILL NEVER BE A LASTING PEACE IN THE MIDDLE EAST! NOT UNTIL THE END OF THE WORLD. People this is biblical, there will not be peace there ever. I say let them freaking fight, we should butt out, and ony attack when they threaten the US. Then we make them a crater.

General Sherman said that war is not to win hearts and minds, but to so destroy the enemy that they will lose the taste for fighting for a hundred years.
It worked with Germany and Japan.
I hope we don't have to go that route. Sherman also said the cost of war is horrific. But it's one answer.

We have two choices. We can go in and take care of business converting all their religious governments of democracy's. In other words we can bomb the hell out of them or we can all convert to Islam.

The US and other outside nations leaving the middle east alone, letting them run their own countries and staying out of their business might help.

A resignation of the Dumbya Coup would help, but it's not the whole answer.
