Texas inmate Richard Hinojosa was executed by lethal injection Thursday for the 1994 murder and sexual assault of a San Antonio woman.

"I am going to be free. I am going to heaven," Hinojosa said, according to the Houston Chronicle.

Hinojosa also made a statement to the parents and brother of his victim, Terry Wright, a whom he stabbed to death when she 29. "I pray for you. Please find peace in your heart," he said. "I know you may hate me for whatever reason. The Lord says hate no one. I hope you find peace in your heart. I know my words cannot help you. I truly mean what I say."

Anyone can say they are going to Heaven but does that mean it is so? If you think it does, I feel sorry for you. Jesus even said there will be many that say Lord, Lord, and tell the many wonderful things they did for Him but He will say to them, Depart, I never knew you. Just because someone says they are going to Heaven, does not mean they are going. Only that they think they will be there. I can think I am going to win the lottery but does that mean I am going to win it? I leave that part up to God to judge as to who will be in Heaven and who will not as He knows the heart. When you take a life, you need to give your life for the one you took. Most will die of old age that get sentenced before they ever get there the way most states do it.

If he prayed and asked for forgiveness, then God will judge him and decide if he goes to Heaven. He has been judged here on earth and now if he truly believes, he will be saved. That's just how it works. Who are we to judge? Plenty of people in prisons actually find God because the end may be near. Some of them are sincere and some are not, but God will know.

My mom is Jewish. My dad's side of the family is Catholic, and I was therefore baptized Catholic. So, by heritage & religion, I'm both Jewish & Catholic, although I identify with neither on a spiritual level. But hey, since I can confess all my sins earnestly and get to heaven, and Jews don't believe in hell, I get to go on a mass murder killing spree! Woo hoo!

Yeah. Good thing for my friends and neighbors that I was raised with morality, which is obvious by the story above that it is NOT always linked with religion.

If he found Jesus and got saved, he is in heaven now. Its harder for the family to forgive, but I hope they can and get saved and go to heaven too. There will be no hard feelings in heaven.

In heaven there is going to be a lot of bad people that ended good...in hell there is going to be a lot of good people that ended bad
if he repented with a sincere heart he will be in heaven...weather we like it or not. Gods mercy and love is for everyone.

All sin is equal in God's eyes whether you murder someone or tell a lie. Maybe his salvation was genuine and maybe he is in heaven right now as we speak.

Lovely words. He still has a debt to pay for what he did. And I hope he makes it, if there's something up there.

Salvation is always possible, remember the thief on the cross! I don't condone what he did and his punishment was just.

It sounds like he apologized knowing full well it wouldn't change their minds. Whatever has happened to him since then is in God's hands. If he was truly sorry, who knows…

Sounds to me like he got what he deserved. Any statements he made before execution are irrelevant: they affect nothing.
