First you may want to find a church. I personally go to a Nazarene church, but you can try a few around where you live until you find one that you like. Once you have a church they should be leading you to God. Many people would say "read the bible." This doesn't mean read the whole bible all at once in order, most Christians haven't even done that. A good place to start may be to read Matthew or another gospel. Acts is a good one after that, then James, some time you should probably read Genesis and Exodus. Try to find a devotional, either purchase one in a store or find one online. Those are meant to help guide you. And the last, but very important thing is you need to pray. I'll be praying for you too.

Whenever anyone asks a question like this, the mockers come out. If you truly wish to know God, go to Him in prayer and ask Him to guide you. Read the Bible and find a Bible based church. If you are not received with love, then visit a different one. May the Lord Jesus bless you and keep you. Be encouraged.

Firstly -- avoid the Bible, the Torah, the Koran, and any other book someone hands you and tells you to take on faith. This is dogma.

Secondly -- Avoid any large group of people who are in agreement with each other. This is herd mentality.

Thirdly -- Get out into the environment that best suits you. Some will find this in nature, some find it at their computers or in a coffee house. Be there.

Fourth -- Sit and just listen to yourself. Hear what your whole being is saying.

If you do this and the belief in God is truly important to you, you will hear the voice of what you need. If you are looking only because you are starting to fall prey to the all-to-natural herd mentality of 'everyone else is, maybe I am wrong', this will clear your head long enough to hear what YOU experience of the possibility of a god or a lack thereof.

Go take a long hard look in the mirror and think about yourself, your life, your ups and downs. Now realize that God has loved you and been with you all along. He made you to be who you are and gave you many gifts. He is calling on your heart. Grab your Bible, say a prayer and let it fall open. He will give you a message. Start trying out different churches to find one you are comfortable in and let your light shine! Congratulations and I will pray for the Lord to lead you in the right direction with your life!

1. Read and meditate on the Bible daily. I would suggest going to the Creighton University Online Ministry website's Daily Reflection page at http://www.creighton.edu/CollaborativeMinistry/daily.html

2. Start doing something to serve others. An easy project that helps the homeless is Project Hopebags. Go to http://www.hopebags.com to learn more.

3. Go to church and pray and worship with others. The most beautiful and meaningful worship services are at the catholic Church

4. Contact me if you have any other questions.

It's great that you asked this question. God is where you are right now and all you have to do is accept his son Jesus as your Lord and savior. The bible says that Jesus is the way, the truth and the life and that no one comes to the father (God) except through him. You have to believe in your heart and confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord. That is you believe that God sent his son Jesus to die on the cross for your sins and raised him from the dead so that you could have salvation. A prayer of salvation could go something like this:

Dear God:

I feel it's time that you were in my life and I want to be saved. I believe that you sent your son Jesus to die for my sins and raised him from the dead. So, I ask you to forgive me my of my sins and I accept Jesus as my Lord and Savior. It's as simple as that.

Once you do this the Holy Spirit comes to live in your heart and is there to help
you live a godly life. Reading your bible, praying and going to church are going to be very important to help you in your new life. If you decide to pray for salvation also pray that God would show what church to go to. God bless you and I will be praying for you as well.

A good place to start is the book God wrote, and that is the King James Bible.
In the Bible Jesus said in John chapter 14, verse 6. John 14:6 Jesus said I am the way, the truth. and the life; no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. No one comes to the Heavenly Father except by Jesus. So ask Jesus to come into your life and ask Him to forgive you for all your sins. Then your life will really begin...

Pray, and search the scriptures. Especially, seek His people and you will know them because they will be trying to do what He wants.

But beware, there are false gods and false prophets.

Try to be sure the one you choose provides the Way to the Truth, and is the provider of Life.

Jesus said "I am the way the Truth and the Life. No one comes to the Father but by Me."

If you believe him, tell your prefererd church, and be baptized.

Then live as He would want, because obedience is freedom.

Go to some kind of church and talk to the minister or priest. Try reading the Bible and praying. There are also lots of websites devoted to God.
