Who do I need to contact so that everytime my credit is pulled up or used, that I would be informed before any credit is applied. Kinda like a credit protection program or something.

If you call at least one of the credit bureaus and put a block on your credit report .. it will automatically transfer over to the other 2 bureaus. What I did learn is that this is only good for 6 months... then you have to call and start the process again. There are pros and cons to doing this. Do not buy a credit protection service, it is a total rip off. The only person that credit protection protects is the LENDER. User kimberc13 (above) has some sage advice and she's right. Be sure to use a cell phone as your contact because not only does putting these blocks on your account protect OTHERS from opening credit in your name.. but it can prevent you from opening credit up for yourself !! A double edged sword.

You need to contact the major credit agancies. Equifax, Trans Union and the third that I can not remember. What will happen is that they will ask you for a contact number. I suggest a cell, and whenever someone tries to run your credit, the agency flags the application. Then the person running the credit calls that agency, they in turn call you at your specific listed phone number, you give a password and then they run the credit. The reason I suggest a cell phone is this, I am in the retail business and I run into this all the time, You come to me and want a new something, I try to run the credit and you have a flag. Then they call you at home, and guess what ? you arent there, you are in my office. So this way if you supply a cell number, then they can reach you and you can finish your purchase without having to go home, call the person, tell them to call the agency, then go back to the business. Hope this helps.

The major credit breaus make so much money ripping off people on credit reports, ect that it's virtually imposible. The only way you can d this is with a court order and that would only be issued if the court determined with your proof that the credit breaus were doing so illegal.
Plus you only get one free report(by giving them a credit card number which they promiose not to use on which sooner there will appear an unexplained billing). after that every time you receive a report form them you are charged 10 bucks and up.
Your best bet is to use debit card where posible, and if yo ar eusing credit cards is to pay it off immediately when u receive a bill keep your financial records on your computer(preferable one with protection or not connected to the internet), and record every transaction made.
