As some of you may not know, all four major heavyweight world titles are held by white men. Personally, I'm glad it happened for one reason. It shows that boxing, and fighting in general, for profit has nothing to do about race. Boxing and all sports like it have traditionally been "the poor man's sport". I've always believed that it had more to do with your surroundings and poverty in general than about race. This just proves my point. All races can fight just as well as the others, but an individual in a poverty-stricken state is, most of the time, more determined and possesses more "heart" than a fighter grown up in luxury. Therefore, my question is directed at black men. What do you think about this recent resurgence? And do you take any offense to it, or do you simply see that its a product of one's society that makes them a fighter? I believe its a testament to the black man's success in overcoming poverty, but that's just my opinion.

Dude, I think you have some serious, unresolved racial issues.
I don't think the brothers pay any more mind to the race of the three (WBO is not a recognised title), legit heavyweight champs, than we white guys did when it was the other way around.
Bad news is that there won't be any more jokes about 'The Great White Hope'. There are three of them now.

I agree with some of what you are saying. I believe the white men who are champions are champions because the heavyweight division is so weak. Think about this, when Mike Tyson was champ who did you have to really challenge him? Holifield, but then he was a lightheavy weight yet he beat Tyson. Really other than that Tyson dominated the division. Most people at the time thought Tyson was a great fighter, but really there was no one out there so he looked great. Proof: After Tyson, the title was open season. Proof: Some guy name Byrd fighting for the title, this guy throws punches with an open hand. Butter Bean the guy is a wrestler he even challenged for the title, almost won. Now let's look at the four champs today. The German guy Klecko, he seems to be the best thing out there, if he stopped fighting today who would be champ open season again there is nothing out there maybe a Korean, who knows. As far as race the skin doesn't make you a great fighter. You must have heart and you must have talent. Now I must agree with you in this particular sport one who is poverty stricken most of the time is more determined and possesses more heart than a one grown up in luxury. (Think) why would one with a great life want to join the military? Now when you look at the lower weight classes you will see Mexican and Blacks dominate. Why, well I agree with you Its a product of ones society that makes him a great fighter. Even when you compare these times to the 60's, 50's, etc.. life is easier, so who wants to fight for a living?

I haven't paid as much attention to boxing as I used to, so this was kind of a surprise when I found out a few weeks back. But why not? If they're the best they should be the champs. Are they planning to unite the title?

Honestly I thought this day would come sooner or later and thought it would involve whites (or people from other races) from poorer countries where people had to fight their way through life.

Me personally I could careless because the heay weight division is one of the weakest divisions right now. The most exciting weight classes which is crazy are light weight, middle weight and welter weight. Just take a look around in these forums and you could probably count on one hand whose talking about heavy weight boxers. I give props to the heavy champs that are champs. But im sorry the heavy weight division just really sucks.

It's embarrasing. It's a black man's sport dominated by them over the years.
