Is it because the change in body temperature, or the friction with the shirt, or something else?

The two you mentioned could have an effect. Also, the increased bloodflow from your heartrate being higher could cause that.

Your nipples are rubbing against your shirt. Try one made for running.

I think it has something to do with the adrenaline that your body releases when you are doing physical activity. Hormones do all kinds of crazy stuff to your body.

try this---rub your finger on your nipple and see what happens--it gets hard so I would guess friction agaist the shirt

that's weird. Probably because it's chilly outside and in running they are the first to meet with the cool air.

my guess would be the friction. either that or it being cold outside.

friction - try a sports bra with a racerback... that should help stop it
