I had one and it is great, but I had to go back and have it cut shorter because it did hurt my man.

I was with my sister when she got her IUD implanted. They told her she would feel a small pinch. I then heard a small click and my sister let out a yelp. Apparently it hurts pretty badly when they first do it. She was so happy before she had it done that day, then after, she felt faint, and looked quite pale with a little bleeding, even a little cramping, but nothing major, just for the day. She has had it now for 3 years, and has been doing fine with it, though it did seem to mess up her cycle a little bit. But she still hadn't gotten pregnant and really perfers this method over b/c pills and the shot. Hope this helps!

i had one inserted about 3 years ago when I was 4 wks Post-Partum. I LOVE IT. I have the mirena. It didn't hurt to have it inserted! It was just a lil pinch but I was given pain medication before it was inserted so that helped. I did cramp mildly for the the next 2 hours but then it stopped.

Yes my Fiancee felt the strings in the very beginning and yes it did hurt him once. But with frequent sex they soften (the semen softens the strings) you might also check and make sure they are tucked around your cervix before you have sex the 1st few months until they soften.

I am now completely period FREE yes you heard me period FREE I love it. No weight gain. NO side effects. Its great I highly recommend it

I've used both types...the Paraguard Copper one and I have the Mirena one right now. I by far prefer Mirena because your period all but disappears and it's extremely effective. I had a lot of spotting at first but after that I rarely ever have a period if at all. Paraguard gave me super heavy periods and really bad cramps with my period. But I highly suggest using Mirena.
