Is it because it makes us mad maybe?...I dunno...someone try to explain this PLEASE...

If you're referring to politically provocative questions I would definitely say that it's anger.US citizens are generally fiercely proud of their country and don't like to hear all of the typical uneducated views of people many of whom have ever been here.I certainly spend most of my time answering questions with the intent of being helpful.I spend most of my time in diet and fitness forum instead of politics or religion. But even there you'll find much of the same stupid nonsense like questions "why are Americans so fat?" and the like.I mostly just try to help people with legitimate questions and couldn't give a crap about the points though I try to keep a good ratio of Best:Just answers.Sometimes I slip knowing full well mine won't be chosen as best. The only thing that makes THIS question dumb is that it's posted in singles and dating. The rest is fine

I have answered dumb and serious questions. But with regards to the serious ones I find it a little upsetting when I read others answers. I come on here for enjoyment not to get angry over some 16 year old kid trying to be cute or funny. I enjoy a good debate or chat about whats going on in the world.

I answer some dumb questions because I can....they are easy to answer. I answer some because I just can't believe that someone could be that stupid and they need to be straightened out. Yes, I answer some because they just ticked me off. I answer some because after I've taken the time to read it, and the other answers, I figure I deserve 2 pts for my time! I don't answer some serious questions because (a) I don't have a good answer, (b) they didn't give enough information for me to attempt an answer and I don't want to make a bad situation even worse. Or, (c) I just don't know!

I have noticed that people like general questions more. the less specific, the more answers. But that makes for a whole bunch of puzzling answers because nobody really knows the specifics on the question. A question like, "Why are men so dumb?" would get probably 40 or 50 responses. A question like,"Could you please help me to understand the current situation in the mountainous region of western Pakistan and what is its significance in the current war on terror?" would probably get 2 or 3 responses. Most folks simply aren't properly educated to handle complex question on Yahoo Answers.

All the above and because some are just meant to make us laugh. We need a good laugh at least once a day. Silly questions are aimed at that. So enjoy the question and laugh.
The more inappropriate ones ignore or tell then what you think.

I'm not sure. Thats a hard question. I have to admit that the "dumb" questions do annoy me. Most people on here must be under 18. Some of the questions are just plain sad! and some are just plain sick.

Well it think it could be lots of things! Like your question! It starts with curiosity from reading the question, reading the posts & then everyone who posted wanted to put in their 2 cents (like me LOL!) Either to be a smart a#@, to show their "intelligence", to let someone know how stupid the question is or to vent on it!

OR it is easy points!

Dumb is entertaining.

Plus, not as many people have a good answer for the serious questions.

I use Yahoo!Answers as a form of entertainment - it's a great way to kill time. The dumb questions entertain me much more than the serious ones - and I get to show off my smart-a$$ tendencies with my answers! :D

The dumb questions are frequently funny or otherwise entertaining.. Those that aren't funny...well, they tend to be really easy to come up with an answer to. It's as simple as 2 easy points.
