Yes, save them all in a large box and have another small box for your winning tickets. Count up the losers from time to time and see how much of a loser you are!

If you do have a winning ticket and it is a large enough amount that taxes will be removed from it, any losing tickets you have that are not winners can be used to off set the taxes. Some people do save non-winning tickets for that reason. I work with a gal who hit a $10,000 scratch off and she had been saving her non-winning tickets and it saved her quite a bit on what they took out for taxes.

Well, if (when) you win the big money, and if you're in a state where you can write off losing tickets, you can have the losing tickets collected for up to a year to offset the winning ticket's bounty. You'll have to check with your local revenue service to see if they're worth keeping.

Some states, like Massachusetts, have a collection for recycling. In MA, for every 25 losing tickets you turn in, you get a free $1 ticket.

Just throw them away, once you lose you can't ever win again with that same ticket. Or if you really want to save them, make a craft out of them or something. But really there is no reason to save them. They are worthless.

You need a log of when you bought the tickets, etc. A losing ticket in and of itself is not proof you actually bought the ticket. Your friend is not quite correct. And no, it doesn't get you a refund.

They're only really useful if you're managing your bankroll. You can use them to keep an accurate record of wins and losses and see how profitable or otherwise they're becoming.
