Or the Bill of Rights?
Or the Declaration of Independence?
Or the Fedralist Papers?
Or the National Anthem?
Or the Plymouth Compact?

ALL of these (except the Anthem) mention God, and are ACTUALLY part of our nation's history?

This way we could still be Christian Patriots and not offend so many people :)

Why put the Constitution there? It's not like we're using it.

It is not so much the mention of God that offends so many people - it is the idea that the word God can only mean the Christian faith, or the Christian faith practiced in only one narrow viewpoint.

God in and of God's self is not defined as Christian. God is God - without any human able to define God.

It would be wonderful if the actual Bill of Rights, Constitution, Declaration of Independence were posted so people would actually read and know their rights before they are changed and corrupted.

Well, since most Americans are unfamiliar with these documents, they'd probably riot, thinking the subversives had taken over.

(Years ago, Bill Moyers went to Central Park and showed people the Bill of Rights -- with its name redacted. Not only did people not recognize it, they thought a lot of those items were a bad idea. A waggish member of Congress put the 4th Amendment up to a vote in the House and, wait for it, it was VOTED DOWN.)

Actually, the only items you mention that have legal status are Constitution and it's first 10 Amendments -- which would make either or both my choice -- or, the Preamble and the Bill of Rights.

Of course, the problem with my argument is that most 10 Commandment advocates don't know what they are, either. (And I be a lot of them watch televised sports on the Sabbath -- shame, shame.)

True, but I wouldn't have the Anthem. I would replace that with America the Beautiful . . . it has more meaning and does mention God.

Why not? Excellent idea. While they mention god, they are really the dogma of our secular religion and our courthouses the temples....
