Check with American Airlines frequent flyer program (aa.com). If they aren't partners with Air France (which I'm pretty sure they aren't, as Air France is partners with United), they may have a program where they can buy the miles from Air France at a greatly reduced rate.

Most likely though, you're out of luck. Sorry.

absolutely not! Air France has no partnership what so ever with American Airlines. Air France is apart of the SkyTeam. The SkyTeam airlines include:

Northwest Airlines
Continental Airlines
Delta Air Lines
KLM Royal Dutch Airlines
Alitalia
CSA Czech Airlines
Aeromexico
Aeroflot Russian Airlines
Korean Air

American Airlines is a member of the oneworld alliance.

go to www.oneworld.com for detailed information regarding them.

No - in fact you can't even earn AA miles on partner airlines on many transatlantic flights (found this out the hard way)
