Nothing before 1 Thessalonians 4:17 nor after says anything about non believers being sent to Hell while the faithful get "raptured" to Heaven.

MAYBE this
1 Thessalonians 5:1Now, brothers, about times and dates we do not need to write to you, 2for you know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. 3While people are saying, "Peace and safety," destruction will come on them suddenly, as labor pains on a pregnant woman, and they will not escape.

Sandy, "Rapture" is not in the Bible. Don't assume you know what I have and have not read. Doesn't the golden book say to not judge? Perhaps if you'd read it, you'd know (I can play the sarcasm game, too. I wonder why it is always the God fearing Christians who start it, though.)

So is it 1 Thessalonians or Revelations? Both? Even the Christians do not agree...How am I to know my true path when you do not agree with one another?

You're absolutely right; Rapture is not taught in the Bible!
The theory of the rapture was basically unknown and untaught to scholars until John Nelson Garby came along; he was the founder of the Plymouth Brethren Church.
ORIGIN OF THE RAPTURE THEORY IS IN THIS SITE: (You can find alot of information in this site about the Rapture Theory)

Capture Away. At the end of the nineteenth century the term rapture was popularized by preachers like John Nelson Darby and William Eugene Blackstone. It refers to the idea of being captured away and is based on 1 Thessalonians 4:17 in the bible. Escotolatogical premise....
After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever.

It came from the Bible. If you read a book, you are more likely to know what is and isn't in that book.
1 Thessalonians 4:13-17: "But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord."

I wasn't being sarcastic. You were asking about the "idea" of Rapture. I was pointing you to the "idea" of Rapture--not the word "Rapture," but the idea, precisely as your question asked.
Had you asked about the word "Rapture," my answer would have been totally different.
I assumed you hadn't read the Bible--or at least not Thessalonians--because it seems obvious that if you had read it, you would have come across the "idea" of Rapture within the pages of the Bible.

The word "rapture" comes from the Latin verb rapere or from the Latin raeptius which means "carried away, caught up". It was used in the Latin Vulgate (about 405 AD) translation of 1 Thessalonians 4:17, which is the primary biblical reference to the event in question, rapiemur "we shall be caught up" translating the original Greek harpagēsometha
(ἁρπαγησόμεθα) (passive voice, future tense of harpazō (ἁρπάζω): "snatch away, carry off.") However, the actual word "rapture" is not found anywhere in the English Bible nor its original Greek or Hebrew documents.
For the Lord himself, with a word of command, with the voice of an archangel and with the trumpet of God, will come down from heaven, and the dead in Christ will rise first.
17 Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together to be with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. Thus we shall always be with the Lord.

...as it was in the days of Noah, so will it be at the
coming of the Son of Man. For in the days before the
flood, people were feasting and drinking, marrying and
giving in marriage, up to the day that Noah entered
the ark; and they knew nothing about what would happen
until the flood came and took them all away. This is
how it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. Two
men will be in the field; one will be taken and the
other left. Two women will be grinding with a hand
mill; one will be taken and the other left....

I think it's in 1 Thessalonians chapter 4
13 But I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning those who have fallen asleep, lest you sorrow as others who have no hope. 14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who *sleep in Jesus.
15 For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who are asleep. 16 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord. 18 Therefore comfort one another with these words.

In actuality the resurrection of the dead is discussed by Paul in 1 Corithians 15:42-58. I believe that will suffice. It does not specify rapture as rapture is a man made word to incompass the phrase, "shall be raised from the dead, and made incorruptible."
