If you are really that interested, why don't you do just a little research on line and find out for yourself? Most of the answers you get on here are inaccurate, smartass, or incomplete anyway. In the time it has taken you to read this you could have typed a couple of those names into Wikipedia or Google and found lots of information.

No pirates are not as common as they were in the time of the films. I doubt anyone knows any pirates. The pirates nowadays are a far cry from the ones depicted in the films- clean, more sober and use smaller boats and less crew members.
Port Royal (a 'town' in Kingston, Jamaica) and Tortuga (a small island off the coast of Haiti) are both real places and are pirate free. The Isla De Muerta is fictional.

I live in the Caribbeans, and yes Port Royal did exist. And on Bahamas there was a pirate "harbor".
Nowadays you may find a few around here, but not as much as in the Asian seas.

There is a lot being made of Pirates just now.
Please, please stop.
There are numerous merchant ships being boarded every year by "new age" pirates, who steal all the crews belongings and flee. All this glamourisation of Pirates is wrong and should be stopped.
