Where you store fat has the most to do with your genes. Some people store fat on their thighs, others on their butts, and others on their stomach. You probably have a genetic predisposition to storing fat in the belly area. While you may never have a completely flat stomach there is a lot you can do to make the best of what you got.

Also going to the gym helps to lose weight but any trainer will tell you that it is 90% what you eat. Try to eat lots of lean low fat proteins (like chicken breast) with plenty of vegetables. Try to stay away from bad carbs (potato chips, cookies, white bread). If you eat carbs eat brown rice or whole grains-- and try to keep these to a minimum.

Getting enough sleep is also very important in weight loss.

There has also been a correlation between cortisol and belly fat. Cortisol is a hormone that your body releases when you are stressed out. So . . . relax!

Also taking Omega-3 (fish oil pills) is supposed to make you leaner. It is also great for your heart and lowers cholesterol.

In addition what are you doing at the gym? You want to make sure that you are adding muscle to your body thus altering your body composition (of fat to muscle). Putting on more muscle will not only make you look leaner but it will allow you to consume more calories and not gain any weight.

Another thing would be to make sure that you change up what you do at the gym. This is b/c your body is very efficient and can easily adapt to whatever you're doing-- making it less effective. Change it up.

Hope this helps.

Unfortunately.....you can't choose where you loose adipose tissue from.
Abdominal adipose tissue may be genetic for you.
However, the best way to go about loosing any body weight is to consume fewer calories than you burn through exercise. Make sure your diet is made up of quality proteins (chicken, eggs, soy, fish, etc) and complex carbohydrates(brown rice, whole wheat products) rather than simple sugars (no more soda sweetheart!) and healthy fats (oils rather than butter). Exercise is important but diet is key. I've been working out for steady on a day to day routine for 5-6 years. When I started cutting the unhealthy foods from my diet I noticed results instantly. Make sure, however, that you arent cutting too many calories. You dont want your body to over cannibalize its muscle tissue. This will not help you loose body fat, it'll only make it more diffucult.
Exercise 3-4 days of week with weight training techniques and 5-6 days a week of aerobic activity (cycling, rollerblading etc...whichever is most enjoyable for you!)
Good luck!!

Do not know if this is your situation but I had two cesereans and did you know that if you have one that often times the OB doesn't stitch you up properly? There are 7 layers and each layer needs to be stitched separately and most OB's just bunch up the skin and stitch. Quick and your out of there in a moment but live a lifetime with a tummy buldge that no exercise can rid you of. The only alternative to this is a tummy tuck where they cut out the scar and stitch each layer back properly. This isn't an option for me so I live with a tummy buldge no matter how thin I am

Yeah that's it have a doctor stab you a hundred times in the belly with a two foot long metal hose. Good advice.

Keep doing what you're doing, since you can't target weight loss areas. The belly area is stubborn, but you can "git r done." Did I just say that???

depends on how much belly fat you have. If it's not that large, if you don't eat for 2 days it will go down. Seems to me that there are fat cells in the tummy which collect water, so when you drink a lot of water that's where it goes. Things like salt and starches form and when you drink water or liquids with sugar they are trapped in those cells. If you stop drinking cola or gatorade (caffeine and tea) and substitute water you can lose 15 pounds or more very quickly.

You are cheating on what you eat. When you go to the gym do you work out on equipment that targets the belly area? Watch what you eat, more vegetables less pasta and bread and work on exercises that the staff can tell you about that target the gut. Presto, good results.

The last thing you lose is belly fat. If your seeing little or no results you should opt for a tummy tuck.

Belly fat is caused by stress. Keep exercising, but try some meditation to deal with stress.
