real depression in dogs is gonna show in everything they do, they may go from playing alot to playing for just a minute and then stopping to lay down and look sad. you can see it in their eyes as well. they sigh alot. and they wont eat like normal. they will usually just lay around and sleep and not get excited much at all.

Sometimes dogs get depressed when they loose another pet from there life. This can happen when a kid leaves home too. They actually look sad.

Gosh some of these people are such idiots! Anyways, maybe if your dog didn't eat/play he could be depressed.

If so, I'd find him a play mate, take him for more walks, play more, give treats..etc..etc.

I can usually tell from their eyes.

I have one that will come over to me lay his head in my lap then walk away and lay down and look at me.

If I call one of them and he huffs before he comes he is depressed.

My females are different - her eyes are always scared to death about everything.

My big one she is usually happiest cause she is bullying the other ones thats why they are depressed

Kick him real hard. If he bites your leg off he's Dog Explosive Personality Disorder, if he cringes in a corner he's depressed.

Is he acting different than usual? Take him to an animal behaviorist. There are anti-depressants for animals.
