A True christian would be a liberal. Compassionate and Open --- unlike a conservative who likes the status quo and isn't very big on Charity.

Jesus himself was a liberal, in the eyes of the Jewish community. That's why all the temples and the prophets in them didn't care much for him. He was a Jewish Radical, out to crush the status quo and to present a new image of god and a new message.

And conservatives don't take much to change very well..and... well, we all know what happened after that.

I would say that there is no such thing as a 'true Christian'. Why? Well, Jesus was a fictional character... he never existed... and Christianity is a total fraud. ALL Christians, of WHATEVER stripe, are living a LIE.

The Jesus Puzzle
http://home.ca.inter.net/oblio/home.htm

The 'Christ' that was preached by Paul, and the other Epistle writers, dealt with a 'spiritual' Jesus... not a flesh-and-blood' character. This Jesus was 'revealed' in the process of reinterpreting OT scripture in a 'modern' context (midrash), under the guidance ot the 'Holy Spirit', which was perceived as an emanation from the godhead, in line with the Greek perception of supernatural guiding spirits, such as 'Wisdom'. The idea of reinventing Jesus as an actual historical character did not emerge until the 2nd century.

Christianity is essentially a criminal business enterprise... in fact, it is the world's longest running and most successful Multi-Level Marketing (MLM) scam. The product they are selling is the illusion of 'salvation'... and the 'pay plan' doesn't kick in until after you're dead. Meanwhile the VICTIMS (having been deceived into believing that it is their God-given duty) are out there busily recruiting MORE victims. What a racket! FORTUNATELY, it only works on those who are gullible enough, and sufficiently lacking in critical thinking skills, to fall for it. UNfortunately, THAT accounts for about 75% of the population of the USA. (There are a lot more people who DON'T know how to think properly than there are people who DO know how to think properly.) That is why there are a lot more religious people in the USA than there are 'Free-thinkers'... including Atheists. Also, Christians are generally too dense to realize that proselytizing (spreading the 'good news') is a key element of the Christian MLM MARKETING PLAN, which was instituted after Christianity lost the political power that had previously allowed them to simply torture and kill anybody who did not comply. Now, they obliviously try to just pester and annoy people to death, through persistent obnoxiousness. If you stop to think about it, you will realize that Christians are very much like the Borg, on Star Trek Next Generation: "You will be assimilated. Resistance is futile." I would not be surprised to learn that thoughts of Christianity provided the 'creative spark' for the Borg concept.

Interestingly, statistics on supernatural beliefs count the USA on a par with backward, developing Third World nations, rather than among modern, advanced industrial powers.

To be liberal was once a noble goal...now the word has been perverted into something opposit... But in the truest sense of the concept...The True Christian is the most Liberal individual... Because God is The Liberal...

The political perverts who claim the word now are condeming themselves to a very un-liberal existance... If the political "liberals" want universal peace it can only be achieved by accepting God and His Will for all of mankind.

The true Christian has a one-to-one relationship with Jesus Christ. The labels liberal and fundamentalist are irrelevant. Incidentally, the term religion means self-righteousness, so if you were having a religious discussion with a few other people, then you we talking to sinners. Only the righteousness of God saves. Self-righteousness is a one-way ticket to hell. As the prophet Isaiah said in chapter 64, the righteousness of man is as a filthy rag (menstrual rag).

Do you want the truth ? I hope so. I think myself to be a Conservative christian.I have a jail ministry and have been there myself.I've committed the worst kind of sins to many to mention so I'm not Mr. To Good for anybody I still remember how merciful God has been to me so I have no room to criticize any one and that's not my intentions here. But in visiting with some people and this might not apply to you at all , you begin to realize their not interested in God or what you have to say.It was the same when Jesus was here in the flesh the scribes and Pharisees sent out lawyers , doctors ,and who ever they thought migth trip Him into saying something so they might have something to condemn Him.When they went out to confront John the Baptist he referred to them as Vipers.I doubt you have come across anything like that today.More people are afraid of offending man than God.If you really are interested in being a Christain I hope you realize that the only thing that can stop you is you.Nothing stopped me.And please forgive my brothers and sisters I'm sure they were not trying to offend you.Your in my prayers.

A true Christian is probably a balance of both. You need to be liberal enough to be able to listen to another point of view and accept that person without judgement, yet fundamentalist enough to believe what the Bible teaches and follow it to the best of your ability.

I love Jesus too guys but I'm not sure "the message" is going to get sent to this guy by just being rude and trying to point out how worthless or sad his life is. His life is equally as valuable as ours... and quite frankly, all of our opinions are just that... opinions. A true Christian follows Jesus, that is his or her classification. Whether he or she is liberal or fundamental means different things to different people. My father calls me conservative and some of my friends call me liberal... I call myself a true Christian. Just depends on who you are asking but I personally don't believe one label fits above "true christian".

I would believe a true Christian is a fundamentalist in the sense that they believe in a literal translation of the bible. By taking away a literal translation of the bible a person would undermine the true message behind it.

I think a true christian is not a holier than thou person. Jesus was not like that. He helped people and didn't care who they were or what they looked like. I think these people who go to church and act like they are better that everyone else, are not TRUE Christians. This is why I do not go to Church anymore. Religion is in the heart not in a building.

The true Christian would not consider themselves either.

In my opinion, that is just arguing for the sake of arguing.

Christians should have much more important things to do than that.

Peace!
