Kicker or JL?

Question

Why do people think Kicker, JL audio, alpine and the such are the best brands out there, they are far from such. It seems nobody's ever heard of RE Audio, Adassa, Treo, and there are many more to add. True kicker, jl ect. are good brands but dont say they are the best unless you actually know about most of the brands out there, in which case you wouldnt say they were the best.

i totally agree with you dude. IMO people watch shows like pimp my ride, and see JL, and alpine go into about every ride. and thats where a lot of people come to love alpine and jl. its cause some rapper has it, and he has millions, so he must have the best. its that kind of thinking, i think. i got lucky. i almost fell into a jl 12w7 and then got to hear it next to a boston g5. i now have 2 g5's in my trunk. not a w7. and thank god. as far as alpine goes, i picked up a set of there 6x9's before i had a sub, cause i needed more bass. i installed them, and it took about 5 mins before i ripped them out, and took em back. they didnt have any bass. i was very disapointed. it was when i first started out in car audio, and thought alpine was awesome. ever sinse then, i havent like alpine. there overated. just like jl, and kicker. i consider alpine the "bose" of car audio. i also think its funny that everyone goes ape sh*t over the solo x and the w7 and how loud they are. yet NEITHER hold the spl world record. that belongs to pioneer. its just funny i think.

glad you posted this, and i am not the only one that thinks that these brands are overated. and jl is really overpriced.

and whoever said JL makes the best subs, needs to really listen to subs before they just go out and preach that. there are better out there.

The "best" will actually be what sounds good to the listener as well as material integrity.

What I call the best will be different from your definition.

All speakers pretty much use the same materials (yes I know there are differences, but only slightly - bigger magnets, multi-coil, surround is made of different materials, basket design, etc.).

My point is ALL speakers have a magnet, cone, coil and basket (plus a few other things). The quality of a product depicts it's dependability, not brand.

Now I know Pyle could NEVER live up to Treo, but just for the sake of representation.

If Treo made a wooden ruler that costs $5 and Pyle made the same wooden ruler that costs $0.50, is Treo's ruler better?

I just wish ElectroVoice made car audio.

true, there are many small market brands out there, but usually theyre hard to find reliable reviews on them, and are usually fairly expensive. and JL and kicker shouldnt be put in the same sentance.

and putting bose in the best category is completely laughable. Go learn something about audio equiptment from real audio enthusiasts.

Thats pretty harsh there kyle. Bose makes nice home theatre stuff but they dont do well in a car. JL subs are great. Kicker subs are great too.

I agree with you on RE Audio, also, MMATS, AVI, Xtant are great. But, check out the horn drivers (Do they qualify as speakers SPARKY ?)

jl is good cuz of the 13w7 and kicker is good cuz of the l7 and re audio is great only if u get the 18in but i think jl is the best but these ru also good
