I am 24 female and in a 9-5 job. I am going to be doing a part time MBA from this October.

Am I wasting my youth/life? How many of you feel like this?

It is a matter of personal goals and priorities. You've gotten an early start, and that's commendable - far from a waste of time.

If you can say for sure that your MBA is a personal goal, you are not wasting time. If, on the other hand, you're simply going through the motions down a path that's been ingrained in you from childhood, you may want to reassess your goals. Perhaps you're having doubts because subconsciously you're meeting your family's expectations and not really following the path you want.

It's also important to remember to make room in your life for other things that are important to you: family, friends, fun, sports and hobbies, etc. You could be feeling like you're wasting your youth because you've thrown yourself so completely into your career and academic goals that you feel you're missing out on the things that bring you joy, and that's not healthy either.

Unfortunately, I can say with absolute certainty that I wasted a good deal of my youth in many respects. I don't want to do it all over again, and I wouldn't do it over again if given the chance. However, if I had to do it all over again, or if I knew then what I know now ... well, you know how that goes.

Get your MBA, but doing something fun at least once or twice a month. You'll be glad you did.

Good luck.

You only waste your youth if you waste your time with all fun and no planning for the future. Education can get you a better salary which will make your life a lot easier than a minimum wage job.

nope. I lived it up (perhaps a little too much) in my youth. I waited for marriage and children and I'm glad. A lot of my friends who got too serious too fast are single moms or divorced. Or they're doing all the partying and night life of a 20-something NOW (in their 40s!) because they didn't get to when they should.

As far as your career...go for it. You can pursue a wonderful job and still have fun in your youth. Good luck and enjoy it all :-)

I'm still trying to get used to mine at nearly 50, seriously no you are not wasting your youth one bit, wait till you get to my age and suddenly realise how glad you were that you did your MBA at 24.

How can studying and earning a living be wasting your youth? Far better to work now and retire early than fritter years away and be too old to get ahead in your chosen career/life pathway. If you can't fit everything in, you need to prioritise and work out what is important to you as an individual.

No, dear you are not wasting your youth, you are just doing and learning, and with positive thoughts and works, one gets young not old. If you have a young mind, and can enjoy your work and relationships you can die young at the age of hundred years.
