How about this for a good reason? When we lived in California, my wife had to provide two forms of identification and four pieces of proof that she was a California resident to register for college and get the in-state resident rates. The girl in line behind her spoke Spanish to the registrar, wasn't asked for ID, and was handed a stack of financial aid forms. All my wife had to do was get some sun and walk up speaking Spanish and she would have been in with no problem. I don't have anything against Latino men and women in general (most of the Latinos I've met have been very nice people, except for the ones who discriminated against me because I was white -- no, the white race does NOT hold the monopoly on racism), but I have a BIG problem with the way the State of California caters to the Hispanic population. Lot of that going on in Texas too.

But if they live in an American neighborhood they speak English. I have been to Chinatown and they do have quite a bit in English. The depend of the Anglo trade to survive.

A few reasons:
1. People in Chinatown are respectful of American Culture and the way of life in American, even thouh they speak their own languages, many do try to become American citizens and work hard for the privilige of living in America.
2. They will interpret things for you if you ask.
3. They do not expect hand outs, they do not expect to be given anything just for being here, and they do not expect to have all the rights ni the world with out any responsibilities.
My question to you is why when I got to Latinotown everything is in Latinese?

there are plenty of chineese here illegally FYI to all answerers.
the difference is they are more successful at self integration. they do learn the language and are respectful of women. our town has plenty of mexitowns (as you so phrase it) with everything in spanish. no one there will interpret them for you or help you. also the latino culture that has congregated here is very predatory to women and masogynistic. that's un american. women are not property here. i think it's important to have cultural neighborhoods: mexican, chicano, dutch, ethiopian, indian, greek, russian etc... we all need to learn what other cultures are about and the food is cool. mexitowns are where americans get treated like were some stupid gringoes and i get cursed out for being too good for my mother tongue (i guess i look puerto rican, i'm actually danish, indian and black.) no one's picking on yuo, people just don't like being disrespected.

Poor Latinos...that is very true. They are all poor until they start living off of welfare and other government programs. Must be nice. While the rest of us have to pay for your sorry asses. For once, be grateful that you live here instead of complaining all the time.

I pick on noone - except myself. (hahaha I'm short. I'm blonde hahahahahha)
Never been to Chinatown.
I don't pick on people unless they are acting stupid. AND it doesn't matter the race.

Go cry to someone else, that question was useless. There is a reason it's called CHINATOWN.
