Unfortunately they are not as gross as everyone makes out. The main reason to stop eating them is, as you say, for health, because they're full of fat.
From USDA:
"Frankfurter, Hot Dog, Wiener, or Bologna With Byproducts" or "With Variety Meats" are made according to the specifications for cooked and/or smoked sausages (see above), except they consist of not less than 15% of one or more kinds of raw skeletal muscle meat with raw meat byproducts. The byproducts (heart, kidney, or liver, for example) must be named with the derived species and be individually named in the ingredients statement.
---------
Heart, kidney and liver might sound nasty, but they're perfectly palatable, and in fact, liver is one of the most nutrient rich meats you can find. The British have been eating Steak and Kidney Pie for centuries. (I'm Irish and it's one of my favourites!)
If you really want to be put off, go visit a slaughter house. My brothers used to work in one and it put them off meat for years.
Have you tried soy dogs (soy pups, I think they're called)? It's worth a try............

Pork alone is a disgusting animal. Externally they are the cleanest, but internally are disgusting. Pigs do not sweat, so all that salt you eat is really thier excrement. Fact. The salty portion of pork is really thier sweat. And I am more than sure the hot dogs and bologna are pork products. If that is not disgusting enough, hot dogs and bologna are all the scraps of the animal. Like a nose and ear. The only meat I eat are slabs. And that is not even good because of all the hormones pumped into the animals in the slaughter houses. I only eat beef, chicken, and fish. And it always has to be off the rack. No canned goods or even lunch meats. But I heard beef isn't even good for you either. People die with at least 5 lbs of beef left over in thier stomachs that will never be digested. That is if you eat beef. That is why people only say pultry and fish are the only good meats to eat. Hope this helped. Food for thought. PEACE!

A number of folks used dried hot dog portions for coaching or treats, however I have no idea if giving a canine that as it can be fundamental food supply could be a good inspiration. The canine meals made for puppies are good balanced and the dog gets all the proper vitamin. Feeding a canine 'people' meals will not be going to be very healthy. The dog is ingesting various water on account that of the high sodium within the scorching dogs, which is also now not healthful for her..

Meat scraps many times and by scraps I mean ears, snouts, tails, lips, entrails...but the worst thing is that the meat is preserved and the preservative is very bad for you. You can find hot dogs and bologna that is made from good meat but it will still be preserved. So you get bloated at the very least.
Try the Morningstar Farms vegetarian hot dogs. Frozen foods section. I love them. You can have the hot dog experience without the horror...

A lot of men and women used dried sizzling puppy portions for coaching or treats, however I have no idea if giving a puppy that as it is major meals supply could be a well proposal. The puppy meals made for puppies are good balanced and the puppy will get all of the correct nutrients. Feeding a puppy 'men and women' meals isn't going to be very healthful. The puppy is consuming plenty of water considering that of the top sodium within the sizzling puppies, which could also be no longer healthful for her..

They aren't as bad as people say, but anything that processed isn't a healthy choice for everyday meals. See the websites below:

Just eat them say...once a week...in moderation...
don't pig out & you will be fine...
Ten, you can slowly wean yourself off them..
Or, take a trip to the slaughter house & see what leftovers go into your particular style of early death....
