I have a pretty good life, but I often find myself feeling unhappy and unfulfilled. Sometimes I get depressed for no apparent reason and feel that life is not really worth living (don't get me wrong, I would never commit suicide). I just always feel that life is such a burden. How do I get to living a life that I am happy with? Is there any way for me to change my outlook on life?

I felt that way for years since I was really young. I had a hard relationship with my mother. Some how though I found an amazing man who almost literally gave the world and I still felt like that. I love and respect him too much to let think that he isn't doing enough because I know he does more than enough. When I'm down I tough it out and I look at my house and everything I have that others don't. If anyone out there thinks that they have it bad just know that they are others out there who have it worst. That wont really solve anything I know because everyone is different and every situation is different. When something I feel is productive and purposeful then life to me is more enjoyable and it can't always be work. Try exercising too, there are chemicals that are released that make you feel good and when that happens somehow everything falls into place and ends up where it belongs.

Keep answering questions here in YA...LOL Kidding aside, if u work full time, do something else other than work that u will enjoy. Try and do some volunteer work. OR reevaluate ur life and see the reason why u find urself feeling unhappy and unfulfilled. If u dont feel this regularly.....have a page of monthly calendar....and mark with a smiley or frowny face depending on how u feel that day. Then try to correlate your moods to your monthly cycle. Girl , u are not alone.....2 days before my period....i feel dramatic...i feel like...i have no more use for this world...when there are times in a month that i feel lucky to be alive, that im able to help people. I hope u are a girl....
And they say the secret to a real happy life.....
Be content and grateful for what you have....

I know your feeling, I often feel the same way. It really started for me after my first child was born and I was fired from my job 3 days after returning from maternity leave after working in a job that I loved for 5 years it was depressing. I was given a book, don't laugh, by Dr Phil, and it actually did help. After it sat on my book shelf for a year. Try it. If it doesn't help you haven't lost much. The book is titled self matters. I know, I'm not a big fan of Dr Phil either, but after reading the book and doing the exercises I believe he has some good things to say. I even watch his shows sometimes now. But most shows are pretty lame.

The best prescription is to start helping other people out. This allows you to get away from your own worries and thoughts and seems to help the mental attitude.

If you are chronically sad, then you should talk to your doctor and get some help. Talk therapy helps and anti-depressants are useful if this happens all the time.

Good luck

I have the same problem. I already know the answer but still it happens. Do what makes you happy. Excercise always helps me. Be true to yourself cause you can't lie to you it is always in the back of your head.

the bible says it is better to give than to receive...do some volunteer work to help out someone else (with your smile).
