Generations of people have gotten deathly sick from eating herbs and meat that were poorly preserved. Some of these people hallucinated and saw visions during their illnesses. However, I do not believe that they saw vinyl since vinyl had not yet been invented. Since this is the R&S section, I will add that in many cultures hallucinagenics were a part of the spiritual practices of many ancient peoples. This is illegal in the US today, but the illegal use of such substances is still happening in the secular fringes of our society.
With our increased methods of preserving food, it is unlikely that entire generations of peoples will get sick today, although the long term effects of some common chemicals are still unknown. For a more detailed explaination of various foods and herbs, please click on my name and e-mail me.

I think Generations is one of the greatest TV shows ever made. It is an exemplary example of the vinyl vision of joining all cultures, past and present.
