Take a watt meter and find out how many watts your motor is absorbing (P=VI) if it's a DC brush motor, or other appropriate formula.
Find the speed and torque that your gear system is putting out...find the appropriate formula for horsepower useing RPM and Torque as your input values.

You coversion has to take into account efficiency.
