The book is merely a work of fiction.
The ideas are just theories.
Dan Brown got most of his info from the book "Holy Blood, Holy Grail" google that name and all kinds of stuff will come up.
If you recall there was a lawsuit between him and the authors of the HBHG.

I'm not a Christian, but I don't think the Da Vinci Code has much credibility. He likely got his idea for the book from the previous book, Holy Blood, Holy Grail, and the authors of that book sued Brown for stealing the idea. The authors of Holy Blood, Holy Grail also stated that it was just a possibility, and wasn't necessarily the truth.

Dan Brown based his book on research done by Baigent, Lincoln, and Leigh as well as many other sources. One of those other sources is a guy named Sir Laurence Gardner, who did a geneology of the European Royal family tracing back to Biblical times.

The idea of Jesus and Mary Magdalen having been married comes from Leonardo's paintings, but also from some very old French beliefs that have Joseph of Aramathea bringing Mary M. and the baby she and Jesus had to Fracne after the Crucifiction. The Rennes le Chateau story is TRUE, but the parchments have never been translated and the "secret" died with the priest and his housemaid. Holy Blood, Holy Grail is a very interestig read, but in the end, I think their conclusions are not supported by the "evidence" they provide. It's still food for thought, though!

Da Vinci Code is a pure fiction
like the shadow of a Tree
with some imaginary connection
against the sunlight.

That book has no real credibility. Every 'fact' in it is false. But your first answerer demonstrates the danger of Mr Brown's work. Some people will use it to bolster their erroneous beliefs, and end up in eternal trouble because of it. And guess who will be called to account for them?

Dan Brown himself says it is a work of fiction.
it is found in the fiction section of book stores
no museum guard was ever murdered in paris
the way the book describes

so I think this book is just as credible as his other murder mystery books.
this one just got well known because of its scandelous ideas

It's a historical fiction. The plot is fiction, but the background info seems to hold a lot of logic. Fiction, but a great deal of food for thought.

Because the church objects to it it makes it more plausible and demotes their interpretations or teachings. Just because anyone says so doesn't make it the truth just a story of our own curiosities. Some children might ask if God had a son why didn't he have a wife? Maybe he did. Was her name; "LUCY?" LUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCY!!! I didn't read Dan Browns book. I liked the movie because it was sorta romantic believing he could have done this. Who is the church to say what god or his son can or can't do?

Dan brown's book, like the Bible available today, was written by men to serve their own interests. Both of them claim to give the true meaning of the original book released through Jesus by God.

It has no credibility as far as the historical accuracy of it. As a good book to read at the beach-sure. Don't use that book as a replacement for the Bible or as any basis for anything you believe about your faith.
