LMAO!! "tongue-wagging community"? How interesting you should put it in such an insulting way for those who speak in tongues.
Yes I believe even the mute can speak in tongues. It probably comes out silently but just the same, it happens. Just as the deaf can speak in tongues even though they can't hear.
I happen to be deaf. I have spoken in tongues because I was touched by the Holy Spirit. So, if a deaf person can do it, then yes so can the mute. As for the "uninterpretable hand signs"... I have never seen anyone "sign" or using sign language. UNLESS, it's for the deaf and someones interpreting the language of the tongues. The church I go to, if someone speaks in tongues, another person will speak out to interpret it; then for the deaf, a person who knows sign language will in turn, interpret for the deaf people what the interpretation of the tongue was about. It was a message from God! So the deaf need to know too!
They're touched by the Holy Spirit. So us "tongue-wagging community" hopes that your answer has been given and helped. You really should learn to word your words right before asking a question in such a way that's so insulting.
Sheesh....no wonder the deaf community cant stand the hearing...you totally misunderstand the deaf and are insulting. Wonder what the "tongue-wagging community" feels about you?

When the Holy Spirit is made evident through us, our abilities are used. So, yes. Even the mute can speak in tongues. There is no handicap that can stifle the Holy Spirit. If the mute speaks in tongues, then they do not need to use sign language. Because not all people who speak in tongues are offering a message. Most times the gift of tongues is a personal offering of praise to God made possible in the Holy Spirit. It is the groaning of the heart. It is the deeper and unspeakable depths of the heart that is released in such instances. And if the person is mute and the praise they offer is personal, then they would not need to use sign language. They would let the heart do all the talking. And so, the gift of tongues is primarily used for the person themselves and not always for the other.
Yet, if there is a message from the Holy Spirit within a mute person, the abilities of the mute person would be used to express it for all to understand (whether it be sign language or actual speech--- nothing is impossible for God).
May the Lord bless and keep you. May He let the light of His face shine upon you.
God's and your beast of burden

Yes. God can also heal the mute. Speaking in tongues is speaking Holy language to God. Speaking true love from the heart. Speaking encouragement or prophecies to others. Part of speaking in tongues is Spiritual. The spiritual born of God Christian has a spiritual tongue also. That spiritual tongue can pray to God 24/7. The spiritual eyes can see a spiritual vision from God. The spiritual nose can smell the fragrance of God. The spiritual ears can hear God.
Yes, there is spiritual hand sign language also. It is called spiritual sign language or spiritual body language.
All things are possible through Christ who strengthens us. Who heals us with His Words. He heals our emotional wounds, physical wounds, and spiritual wounds. God sent His Word and healed us from all our diseases.

A mute can force air through the vocal cords and make noise with out use of the tongue. It makes the same amount of sense as someone babbling in toungues.

I suppose if one was mute, God could loose their tongue or use them in a different way to minister for Him.
I don't know about the speaking in tongues you are talking about but the tongues talked about in the Bible is someone speaking a foriegn language they never learned to minister to someone who can't speak their same language. Like if a mexican girl wanted to know about Jesus, but could not understand my English and I couldn't understand them....some how by God's power i could talk her language and tell her the gospel....that is speaking in tongues.

I imagine God could give the mute sound if He could give the blind sight.
