http://guitar.about.com/library/blguitarlessonarchive.htm has great step-by-step guitar lessons with a couple of audio clips. That's where I started to learn guitar, and it worked pretty well.

As for software, you can always try "Guitar Pro", but it's not really meant to learn guitar, although it helps.
