How do we know the animals don't have some sort of spiritual belief? I am joking and serious at the same time. I feel that animals have a definite consciousness so why not a 'religion' expressed more through images? Man's religions are expressed through words, thoughts.
I have one cat that fancies himself some sort of guru, his name is Bodhisattva and he acts like one.

I thin that your statement is equating animals too closely to humans. True we are mamals as any dog, chimp, bear, whale, etc. etc., but what differentiates us from animals is self-awareness and the ability to give or read meaning in things. In short, they have animalistic souls and we have rational souls. Animals are not able to be conscious of meaning in things and much less aware of a being to worship. The way they live idicates this. There lives are migratory and instinctual. However, man is aware and is able to do their best to imitate who they believe (God) and create objects to keep him mindful of God. Animals do not do this. Therefore, they do not and cannot have a religion for they are unaware.
May the Lord bless and keep you. May He let the light of His face shine upon you.

No, dolphins and chimps will skip that step in evolution and go straight to being scientists, because that's who they hang around with since no one else pays them any attention. It's not well known, but Koko the Gorilla described herself as a "hard line atheist."

What, so they can have wars, hate and Riteous Anger too? They may or may not have their own religions, but they have the grace and sense to keep it to themselves. And let's not forget, cats were once worshiped as gods, so why should they settle?

Animals were not given human intellect--they were created by God for our benefit--we are to use and look after them as we see fit.
