I have had a consistent eye twitch in my left eye since Jan. 2006. I am a 24 year old male, health conscious, and fit. I take good care of myself. I am between work and school and so have had the summer off. I used to have a stressful job working with a mental health organization but I have been unemployed for 2 1/2 months now. For these reasons I can't believe that it's vitamin def. or stress. My sleep patterns tend to be all over the place but I usually get a good 7 to 9 hours. For two weeks straight I put myself to bed at 1200 and set the alarm for 900... this didn't help. I still have an eye that twitches EVERY SINGLE DAY. It used to be just the upper lid but has recently, a week ago, started to twitch on the lower. Has anyone experienced or heard of this?

You need to go see a health practitioner! It could be caused by to much caffine, it could be stress...unemployed for a couple months saving dwindling...thats stress!or it could also be the onset of Tourettes (sp?)Syndrome. One of my sons friends(22) was recently diagnosed with this after having an "annoying twitch" for over a year. It is now controled with meds.
Call your family Dr or a clinic for an appointment.

The usual causes have been either stress and fatigue or dry eyes. Lately though, I even heard that that were some tie-ins to Tourette's Syndrome. It sounds like you're getting the required amount of rest, but I wouldn't dismiss the stress possibility just yet. Eye twitching is an involuntary spasm and if it continues to worsen could be indicative of a more serious neurological problem.

Do you drink a lot of coffee or caffeinated drinks? Or take weight loss supplements with caffeine in them? Too much caffeine makes my eye twitch.
