1st off I think Scarlet Rose has a view that is different from other scientologists. She is much nicer and more open. She is actually saying that people can take medication if they need it. Wow that is great. So Andrea Yates could be treated in that case and not kill her babies. I think that she does not represent the whole.
Okay here is where I am coming from. I have a medical background. I am not a doctor, but I have been through medical training at an accredited university in a conventional medical program.
I am not a scientologist.
I have seen what medications have done for people and my life has personally been saved by the use of psychiatric medications. Unfortunately my father was not that fortunate. He did not want to take his medications because of unpleasant side effects and he got so depressed that he killed himself. It was in his suicide note.
I would say that mental illness is real. One of my friends had a brother who was Schizophrenic. He had a medication change and was lost to follow up because his doctor moved. His medication was at too low a dosage. He stepped in front of a truck and died. They do not know if it was suicide or he was confused by his schizophrenia.
This is not something to judge by non professionals. Let’s leave it up to the doctors. Let’s leave the decisions up to the Psychiatrist and the patient. If there is a problem lets send people to the psychiatrist and not a primary care doctor or pediatrician to evaluate if they need medication or counseling and what it is.
The only thing I agree on is that unqualified doctors should not be prescribing. Patients should be sent out for referrals. Primary care parishioners can choose the wrong medications because they misdiagnose.
People can die in the hands of a cult or scientologist. If you have not had this problem or studied in medical school who are you to say it is real or not?
Please get out of the Stone Age and realize that Hubbard was schizophrenic himself and received care in a very bad time for mental health. This was a time when the medications were limited and the mentally ill were treated like animals. Things have changed, but Scientology has remained the same. Please do not base your ideas from the writings of a mentally ill dead man. Get a proper diagnosis from a Doctor MD of today’s technology.

Scientology denies the fact that most mental illnesses are a result of chemical abnormalities in the brain. Scientology is a cult, and interestingly uses its own form of pschotherapy! Tom Cruise saying that psychiatry is bad is only considering its failures and none of its successes. There have been a lot of abuses in psychiatry (look up its history and you will see exactly what I mean) but there have been more success stories lately than failures. Scientologists can believe anything they want to, but that doesn't mean that they are right. For the most interesting article I have seen on this particular matter, check out the following link from the Journal of Clinical Investigation. Hey Mr. Cruise: care to debate the monoamine hypothesis? Here's the link: http://www.jci.org/cgi/content/full/115/8/1964?maxtoshow=&HITS=10&hits=10&RESULTFORMAT=&fulltext=tom+cruise&searchid=1&FIRSTINDEX=0&resourcetype=HWCIT
Who do you trust with your medical advice - Tom Cruise - or someone that actually graduated from medical school and has an M.D. license?

I dont think that person quite has the scientology view correct. Im not a scientologist but their view isnt so bad. There is definetly a difference between drugs and medicine. Its a medicine if it fixes a problem, its a drug if it alters or masks a symptom.

human beings convey mutually potential from diverse components. some lean in the direction of paintings: portray, chiseling, woodwork, dance. Others decide for activities: basketball, racquetball, golf, soccer. some appreciate getting to understand approximately all style of issues, and take a classification for the heck of it. they are literally own judgements. often, those with severe melancholy pull far off from those issues that did convey them excitement and potential. i'm not a non secular guy or woman, yet i understand many that want that for the time of their lives to maintain them entire. people who're from each and every diverse faith will inform you why their perception is #a million. in case you mostly are not an particularly non secular guy or woman, i could decrease back from that precise now. You do want effective reinforcement. yet, you do not prefer to lose considerable factors of who you fairly are. once you're improving, you're nonetheless particularly susceptible. Making dramatic differences on your way of existence is in simple terms too plenty. Take it one step at a time. sometime at a time. terrific desires! Edit; in keeping with Scotty's placed up: melancholy is a scientifically shown medical ailment. Many analyze have presented secure and respectably consistent counsel related to neurotransmitters. Serotonin, norepinephrine, and dopamine are 3 considerable neurotransmitters for healthful existence. Psychiatrists are MD's- they went to medical college, in simple terms like the pediatrician, opthalmolgist, and regular drugs well being practitioner. From there, they specialize into psychiatry, and study rather significantly with regard to the worried equipment - which the recommendations is a considerable component to.

Yes, I am a scientologist. I hate how people criticize scientologists because retards like Tom Cruise give all scientologists a bad name.
Scientology is just there to improve peoples' lives. They offer classes to help you. When you first become a scientologist, you take a personality test which is like an evalutation to see what you need help with in your life. My results were accurate and now I am taking the "communication", and "up and downs" classes.
It is basically just something to help you. To make you improve your self and your life. I don't really consider it a religion even though they say it is. I think it is more like a philosphy, or a way of life.
I think MOST Mental Illnesses are fake. These days, WAY TOO MANY children and adults have "ADD", "Bipolar disorder", "depression", etc; it's just unrealistic. Psychiatrists today don't really care about people. They just drug them up and don't even listen to a word the patient says.
Our society is too drugged up. I find it disgusting that over 50% of children and teenagers are drugged up from a very early age.
I think all of these imaginary illnesses can be "treated" by talking about the problem and evaluating ourselves and finding a way to improve ourselves--DRUG FREE!
From experience I can tell you that prescription drugs for mental illnesses give you a temporary "high", but when the drugs wear off, you feel worse than you did before. These drugs do not help you at all. They just play with your mind, and your emotions.
Did you know that the Columbine shooters were medicated for various problems from a very early age?
Some people think they went crazy from the prescription drugs--I agree.
*I believe medication for mental illnesses are only acceptable when the person is a danger to themselves and others. Like if the person is really crazy and out of it and needs the drugs to calm down so he/she won't be violent, etc.*
Good luck.
Edit: I said MOST mental illnesses are fake. It is impossible that so many people in the world today have mental illnesses. Statistics show that over 50% of adults AND CHILDREN are on prescription medication. That is just not right. More than half of the US consists of zombees.
My friend's brother has schizoprenia and he was in a mental hospital for a few years until his father decided to take him out and let him live with him. Her brother is now 31, living with his father, and doing much better than when he was in the hospital and on drugs. No, he is NOT a scientologist but his father noticed that the drugs were making him worse and he didn't want to see his son locked away. Anyway, Now he is living with his father. He has become interested in many spiritual things, He has found activities to do, he has found hobbies, he changed his diet, he exercises, and he lives life to the fullest. He is not yet mentally stable enough to live alone but trust me, he has improved ALOT since when I was a little girl and remember seeing him (that's when he was on drugs).
Yes, drugs CAN help but there are ALWAYS better options. Unless the patient is a danger to him/herself and others, drugs should not be involved.
My brother's friend used to be "crazier", but now that he is no longer on drugs and no longer being brainwashed by doctors and psychiatrists, his illness has improved. He now only has a mild case of schizophrenia and sees a therapist weekly.
Therapist, NOT psychiatrist. Therapists can not prescribe medication and are there to help. They actually talk about the patient's problem as opposed to just drugging them up and forgetting about them.
Anyway, I believe that drugs should not be used unless the mental illness is very severe.
For example, I only believe medication should be prescribed if it is a chemical imbalance, and a severe one, or if it is NOT severe, it should only be used if the illness is interfering with the patient's life. If the patient feels like nothing else can help, and they can not live life comfortable, then I say it's okay for them to take pills.
Unlike Tom Cruise, I don't criticize people who take pills for mental "illnesses". I even believe that drugs did help Brooke Shields. Post Partum Depression is a chemical imbalance which in some cases may need drugs to help regulate hormones, etc.

Scientology is not bad...
If you can cure what you believe to be a mental illness with other methods then using drugs manufactured by evil corporations who are only out for profit, then what is the big problem.
Search out the route of your mental problems instead of hiding it beneath a cloak of drugs.

Psychiatry is a conspiracy. Stay away from it. Scientology can save you from the charlatans who will try to control your mind and make you give them your money.
Only Scientology has the answers you need to questions about your mind and spirit.
