Hell: The Kingdom of The Devil and Evil, and the eternal 'resting' place for those judged unfavorably by God when they die. Myth or Real?

I remember watching a documentary on TV of an atheist who treated other people poorly and basically had no principles at all who had a near death experience. When he died, he fully expected to lose consciousness forever. Instead, he found visitors coming for him in the OR. As they walked him down the hall, they swarmed him, biting, clawing, and looking like genuine demons. He claimed that he was in Hell for a short period of time, and explained his experiences. After this experience, he was a changed man. Does anyone have any stories about people who *didn't see the pretty white lights* during their near death experiences?

My mom also had an out of body experience during a life-and-death operation where she was above the operating table. A few months later, she had a night terror, and woke up to see horrifying demons flying around her.

Many people, including my own aunt, have died and been resuscitated. She reported, as a few others do as well, that she went to Hell. She described it as pretty much what we are told by Christians. What I found frightening was that a few months later, she completely forgot the experience. She eventually died for real, and I have to wonder if anything changed for her. I fear that it did not.

Dear Mike,

There is no evidence of HELL because it does not exist at this time. HELL (lake of fire) will be a real place, but not until the last day (Judgement Day). You see, God (The Lord Jesus Christ) is perfectly just and Holy. Being perfectly just, He could not sentence anyone to eternity in hell until they have their day in court when the charges will be brought forth against that individual, the evidence presented, and the sentence pronounced. ALL of this will happen at the last day (Judgment Day) when all the unsaved will apppear before Christ's throne. Those who have been redeemed (saved) will not be there because Christ took their sins and paid for them when He underwent the wrath of God beginning in the Garden of Gethsemanae and ending with His words on the cross--"It is finished."
The stories that you have heard on T.V. and even from your mom are certainly not from God. They may have been from an illness or indigestion. However, if someone believes they have seen a devil (demon), they should immediately begin to pray and ask the Lord for mercy. Read the Bible--God's word! Let me also suggest a website that I have listed below.

I think our subconscious draws upon these visions because we are taught to expect this during our lifetime. Its similar to dreams--we take our experiences and incorprate them into our dreams.

According to Buddhism, this world that we live in already is some sort of 'hell' in which we have bad emotions such as despair, wants and we basically suffer.

An actual "hell" claimed by the Christians? No. I think its a myth hat was drawn from the old Roman/Greek world of Hades in which the dead goes. People feel that an arupt end to life is depressing so they made up heaven and hell to give hope to people. And if almost every religion has some sort of 'hell' for the non-believers, then technically isn't everybody going to hell then? Its all a myth.

well. My great grandpa was a bad man. He beat my great grandmother & caused heartache. In the nursing home, on his death bed, he called to my grandmother not to leave his side for fear of these black cat like creatures that would scratch him. He was REALLY scared, cried for forgiveness, cried all the time, then died crying. Hell, maybe. But I think it is a manifestation, hallucination if you will, of your deepest fears. You know you did wrong, so expect to be punished. Thus you create your own hell.

I don't think there is a hell for humans. I believe hell is made for the devil & the angels that followed him. Humans cannot match the evil that satan does....believe it or not.

I am an agnostic. My wife is an Atheist.

We believe in Hell. But Hell is THIS life, THIS reality. Hell is modern existence in this value-deficient over-populated world.

The trick to life is to resist the evils of humanity, and make the best of what you can while you are existing in this reality.

We don't "hate" religious people since we are agnostic/atheist, but let's just say we don't understand how anyone could believe in any organised religion

Cheers

What your mother experienced was a flashback to her surgery -- that's a fairly common occurrence.

There is no evidence of hell. Judaism teaches that there is no hell. Early Christianity borrowed the idea of hell from Greek mythology - Hades - which represented volcanic eruptions and fiery lava from the abode of the dead. All superstitious nonsense.

It insults the idea of "God" to believe hell exists.

There is plenty of evidence that hell is an invention of ignorant and supersitious men.

There is a place called hell for all the unsaved people, devil, and his angels. Read Luke:16-22-25. The Bible speaks about a place called hell. By Faith,I believe it all, and Trust in God.

No. NDEs are merely fragmented dreams that appear when the brain is endangered. The breain releases a euphoria-inducing drug on itself when it becomes oxygen-starved or experiences trauma such as shock. Serverely traumatic experiences can cause personality changes, so your "atheist" (or whatever he really was) could easily decide to embrace superstition.

NDEs are evidence of how the brain works, not life after death of any kind.

this is a matter of faith. no one can really claim to have the truth of this because no one has really come back from the dead to tell about it. On the other side of the coin: Christians believe that Jesus the Christ has come back from the dead and that believer who believe in Him will continue to live in a spiritual world. There is a passage in the new testament about the sheep and the goats where Jesus comes back at the end of time and separates the sheep and the goat . On his right hand he places the sheep and says to them Come thou blessed of my Father and inherit the kingdom prepared for you for when I was hungry you gave me food, when I was thirsty you gave me drink, when I was naked, you gave me clothes,. And the blessed will say: when saw we thee naked or hungry or thirsty and ministered unto thee? Jesus says In as much as you have done it to one of the least of these my brethern You have done it unto me.

Personally, I make many attempts to help the homeless, poor, less fortunate people than myself. Because as a matter of faith I want to be in the good graces of God. If it turns out to be true I have nothing to fear and will have joy and peace in the next life. If it turns out to be false I will have lived a good life and helped to make the world a better place with my life.
And death is the end.
We will never really know in this life what lies after. But on faith we can know and have peace while we live.

Are you asking this because you are curious or because you are trying to frighten someone into believeing something?

This... is why atheists hate religion and the religious.

Personally, I don't blame them.
