Absolutely no. Pyramids are not performed in this manner.

We use upper thighs or cupped hands to lift the flyers into the air.

This is an outrage and should be brought to the attention of those in charge.

ok, i've coached an all-star cheerleading team for 15 years. This stunt you are explaining is so far outdated, that it clearly states that the coaches have no clue what they are doing. No where in America or anywhere for that matter does pyramids like this anymore. yes it could hurt her back, and its not legal in the competition world of cheer. and it's lame that the coaches don't know these things. go tell them to get educated in the SPORT of cheerleading before becoming a coach! thanks, and good luck

it might not cause her problem right now but later could, take her to get it checked to be sure.I didn't find out till recently I have a forward movement of L5&L4 vertebrate that happened when I was young,so for her safety have her checked & go with what the dr. says.

NO! IT'S NEVER OK TO HAVE ANYONE ON YOUR BACK. THE SPINE IS MEANT TO HELP YOU STAND ERECT,AND THE DISKS ARE THE CUSHIONS TO HELP KEEP YOUR VERTEBRAE FROM RUBBING TOGETHER. THE SPINE IS NOT MADE TO CARRY WEIGHT THAT WAY.
