From NBC 4 News:

LOS ANGELES — Do you think pregnant women who come to the United States illegally to have their babies should be allowed to stay in the country? Well members of the National Alliance for Immigrants’ Rights said Wednesday in Los Angeles.

Just in case you missed that, let me repeat it with emphasis added, “Pregnant women who come to the United States illegally to have their babies should be allowed to stay in the country”.

This group is not talking about women who get pregnant once they are here or even women that somehow ‘accidentally’ give birth while here illegally.

Uh, no.

They are saying that women who come to our nation illegally for the sole purpose of giving birth to an American child should be given an automatic free pass to citizenship.

This is the most utterly stupid thing I have read on this issue thus far. It is not only idiotic for this group to even utter that statement but it is also the most sexist, demeaning, and discriminatory thing I have ever heard.

So, it all comes down to the fact that if a woman can get herself pregnant, she can get a free pass.

Doesn’t this smack of the practices of the old slave masters to multiply their workforce? And where are the women’s rights activists that are always screaming that women are being demeaned? This is not considered demeaning to women?

So, you want to be an American? Ok honey, if you’ll just spread your legs and pop out a kid, you get to stay! Wooohoooo!

This is the third world logic that is falling down around our ears, people.

Alliance members said they were motivated by the case of Elvira Arellano, a Chicago woman who is staying at her local church to avoid deportation. Arellano is in the country illegally but has a 7-year-old son who is an American citizen.

These people will stop at nothing. They will use anything and anyone - even a helpless little child - to shield themselves from their crimes against our laws. Using children as human shields is a tactic of terrorists, not mothers.

No way - as far as I'm concerned, they are enemy combatants and have invaded a sovereign nation. Send them back with their kids; we have a hard enough time feeding our own.

First of all this rule is ridiculous. Th is rule is applied only in the US and it is an archaic law that was used when the US needed more population. Those days are gone, and our laws are outdated and those that should be enforced are ignored and those that should be ignored are enforced. There is only one way to get the US Government back on the right track, and that is to vote every single issue and get the ones who don't listen to the people out of office as fast as we can. There is an election coming up in November and we the people need to make our voices heard without regard to party affiliation, paying attention to voting records and the stands on the immigration issues. If we continue to be complacent and let the politicians decide what is right for us we will all be living in third world squalor very soon.

Holy effing smoke!!! I didn't see that one .. that's the most ridiculous thing I have heard, and I've heard many ridiculous things ... someone will very soon have to get their skates on and examine what the 14th actually SAID, and meant!!

I remember posting a question a while ago, asking what would happen if 1000 pregnant al Quaida women crossed the border on a tourist visa per month, had their offspring here and brought them up in the "faith", next month 1000 more on a tourist visa etc., etc, I thought I was a bit tongue in cheek, but maybe not come to think of it ... look, this thing will have to be killed stone dead now!!!

Joey, for God's sake ... I put "faith" in inverted commas ... I know it's not a religion per se, but a faith it sure is for those extremists who follow it ...

Take it with a grain of salt. Anyone can propose anything (wise or stupid), but not everything will be taken seriously by the general public. Besides, for this proposal to pass would require major legal reform, which isn't going to happen in our lifetime. The news media loves to broadcast stories that stir controversy otherwise nobody would watch their channel.

NO!!

**eli..
There is no such thing as a "United Statesian"!!!
Look up AMERICAN in Encarta:

somebody from United States:somebody who was born in or is a citizen of the United States.

and FYI, someone from North America, Central America, South America are considered people from the "Americas". The term "American" is known all over the world to represent people from the "USA".

yogurtsoju- You ignorant illegal immigrants and your supporters just can't accept being 'wrong' without resorting to filthy name calling. You only show the sorry job your mother did in raising you and the waste of tax money on your education. People like you bring filth into the otherwise decent lives of A M E R I C A N S
of the UNITED STATES of AMERICA!!

The name you called me is what you Mexicans call YOUR women. I am not one, and my man knows it. He is a decent, well brought up respectful man and he respects me and would blow your head off if you ever revealed your true identity. You wouldn't call a woman in the USA those kinds of names with her man around. You wouldn't live long. Try it.

Unbelievable! What a bunch of pretzel logic. No one said you had to be intelligent to be a lawmaker or a politician. You just gotta' have tons of money!

Women will be lining up to do it too! Plus the kid and thus the mother will be eligible for welfare! We need more of that in this country.

If we allow them to stay, we are inviting what many of my friends are in Iraq fighting against at this very moment. I say we ship their asses back where they came from. And if they want their new American baby to grow-up here, they have the option of giving the baby up for adoption, to real Americans (not illegal aliens).

Surely you jest!

You meant 'So you want to be a United Statesian?' right....???

You see, there is no such a thing as ‘American’ nationality, America is not a nation America is a continent with many nations in it. The US never named itself the name of the United States is a designation it comes from the end of the Declaration of Independence, "WE, therefore, the Representatives of the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, in GENERAL CONGRESS, Assembled...". The preamble to the U.S. Constitution reiterated the phrase: "We the People of the United States..." (The authors of these two documents probably used the phrase "united states" in place of a list of colonies/states because they remained uncertain at the time of drafting which colonies/states would sign off on the sentiments therein.) The geographic term "America" specifies the states' home on the American continent.

It is therefor incorrect to refer to US citizens as Americans with the intent of denoting citizenship, or the United States as America with the intent of denoting a nation. Americans have a term for US citizens, we are called United Statesians by the rest of Americans, to say American with the intent of denoting citizenship or America when we mean the United States reflects poorly on our attitude towards the 70% of Americans that are not United Statesians.

And then people wonder why hospitals are closing their trauma centers and emergency rooms......they don't have the funds to continue to maintain them with all the non-paying illegals using the facilities. They don't only just use them for serious illnesses either, they use them for regular stuff that a doctor's office visit can handle....it's sapping our economy!! The U.S. also needs to stop giving these babies automatic citizenship.....if they are born to illegal aliens, then they should also be classified as such, it would put a stop to that problem.

I read and reread this question. Then I tried to find the "actual" commentary on the NBC4 LA website (had to read it for myself)...but couldn't. So I googled the National Alliance for Immigrants Rights and read about 25 articles and came to this conclusion.

You twisted this for effect. YOU TWISTED ALOT.

Props for that.
